they broke the DSi's record of being hacked!
They also used the same method as with the DSi, plus it won't allow you to run 3DS games, so I don't really consider this a proper hack yet.
The sole purpose of this "hack" is for piracy, that much is obvious no matter what way you look at it.

This will help 3DS sales surely, and provided 3DS games stay protected, will there be much damage to Nintendo?
I agree. Plus this cart only cost less than US$10 on average

It would appear to have been a calculated risk, as the same method is being used here as on DSi.

As of now it wont go further than playing DS games on 3DS.

The only risk was if Nintendo added some 3DS features on DS games, in this case using an exploit could open 3DS mode sooner than Nintendo had expected...

But they are smarter than that, they wont reproduce the same error they did for DSi (Cooking coach exploit and co).

Let's see, they want to sell the 3DS, Pokemon B&W will sell inevitably, I don't think they'll just take their time patching the whole DS flashcart thing over and over. They're using a vulnerable system for that, and it's gonna probably work after a few tries. They will give up on DS. 3DS is a different matter.

I expect Acekard2i and others compatible with DSi 1.4.1 to get firmware releases too. It's gonna happen.

that relies upon DSiMode working, which is what is currently being worked on behind the scenes. Initially you won't be able to use DSiMode features, but it won't be any different to what you'd get if you had a DSi.

I wonder if they were being sarcastic lol

Sorry to be pedantic but as it doesn't play 3DS roms, its not "technically" a 3DS flash cart

indeed, but it is still better than nothing.
Since the 3DS does not have an international release yet, coming this far so as to emulate the DS ROM's is quite some news indeed.

This has been around since the DSi, it's nothing new.

That is another flashkit running in DS mode (as you can see from the screens), there is no reason to be surprised as more and more carts are updated to work with the 3DS.
