You should get a Nintendo DS flashcart compatible with NTRBoot. I recommend the R4i Gold 3DS RTS or the R4i-SDHC 3DS RTS. Those (and more, check the compatible list at https://3ds.guide) can be used to install custom firmware. If you need a guide for that, 3ds.guide is one that should help you with setting it up easily. Just follow it, and by the end of it you'll have a Nintendo DS flashcart for any NDS games you may want to run there, and you'll be able to install any other titles on the 3DS itself.Hi Folks, I have a New 3ds XL on FW 11.5. What is the cheapest, easiest flash card to get? Thanks for your time
You'll be able to install them to the 3DS itself. In addition to that, no 3DS-mode flashcart is ideal or nearly as convenient as getting custom firmware and installing the titles to the console.I am wanting to play 3DS roms though mainly.
I will be honest looking at the guide has me confused. is there no card that can play 3ds games that I just put on the kernal and game file and then play? Also from years ago I have two cards already. They are attached. I dont know if they can play 3ds games or not or just DS ones. I appreciate your help thanks
Also the boo9strap method looks to need 11.6 FW also requires another 3ds to do.
If there is no easy way of playing 3ds roms I might just have to sell the 3ds, shame as theres quite a few games I would love to try.
Setting up CFW is really easy and we are all here to help. Do some research and you might find the cards you already have are compatible. If not, the R4i Gold is only about $20. There does exist a 3DS flashcart but they are stupidly expensive (~$100) and you can't play all games with them. Nobody in their right mind would recommend them - they are only for people with more money than brains. Do yourself a favour and have a read of the guide and ask any questions that arise. For more real time help you can join the 3DS Discord server. Don't buy one of the 3DS flashcarts if you have any dignity whatsoever.I will be honest looking at the guide has me confused. is there no card that can play 3ds games that I just put on the kernal and game file and then play? The Sky3DS+ has to be updated for new titles, has it not? And the older one does not work with a number of titles which employ AP measures. And they are... Not cheap.Sky 3ds. But at this point its way more convenient to get cfw with a cheap $20 ds flashcart
Plus none of them work with eShop-only games, or hacked roms, or homebrew games (except for acting as an exploit game to get into regular homebrew). The Sky3DS+ has to be updated for new titles, has it not? Yep, they only work with unmodified retail cart dumps.Plus none of them work with eShop-only games, or hacked roms, or homebrew games (except for acting as an exploit game to get into regular homebrew).
If he decides on that type of flashcart I would just recommend waiting for the Stargate-3ds ...Sky 3ds. But at this point its way more convenient to get cfw with a cheap $20 ds flashcart

I suggest the R4i Gold 3DS RTS its 20$ on nds-card and can be restored to play nds roms after you use ntrboothaxHi Folks, I have a New 3ds XL on FW 11.5. What is the cheapest, easiest flash card to get? Thanks for your time
They've been signed up since 2013 so it's not like they just found this site when looking around for how to pirate 3DS games.Setting up CFW is really easy and we are all here to help. Edit: the fact that you found this forum at all and didn't just buy one of those flashcarts right away shows that you have the minimum level of smarts required to install CFW (which is anything above "frog") so keep that going
The guide is kinda long but you can't really go wrong, it's easy to follow, it just has a lot of steps. Just take it one step at a time and double check that you've performed every step before moving on to the next section and you'll be fine.I will be honest looking at the guide has me confused. is there no card that can play 3ds games that I just put on the kernal and game file and then play? The Stargate merely takes every other cart and makes it a single one... Not to mention, installing Boot9Strap? How is it difficult? It takes so little time it's laughable how one would imply it is not easy or how fast is it. And it'll still suffer from the limitations of the Sky3DS+, which requires updates now and then, and it won't be able to play homebrew or modified dumps. CFW will still be required for any of that.If he decides on that type of flashcart I would just recommend waiting for the Stargate-3ds ...
... for these very reasons.
Of course, a regular priced ntrboot card is probably better still, but not as "Easy" as Stargate.
It's easy for me and you but not for everybody. Cfw does require a little work to set up and maintain. The Stargate merely takes every other cart and makes it a single one... Maintain? What kind of maintenance does it actually require? You do realise that the Stargate, just like the Sky3DS+ before it, will need to be updated for new titles? Seems to me as though that IS maintenance as well. Not to mention, he seems to already have a NTRBootHax-compatible flashcart. If the Stargate is less than 40€, it *might* be worth taking a look at, but even so.It's easy for me and you but not for everybody. Cfw does require a little work to set up and maintain.
This card gives the drag and drop experience of the sky3ds+ (similar to the nds era) with the option of later installing b9s should he become more confident and give softmodding a go.
