3DS (Base) Third-Party Screw and Hardware Measurements

Zelda Breath of the Wild 3DS build

As of yesterday, what appears to be a 3DS build of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has leaked online. While I was initially skeptical of it's legitimacy, the animations, models and gameplay have displayed what appears to be an exact replica of the beginning of the game. The build has working shrines, dialogue and other gameplay (albeit with severely diminished graphics for the 3DS). The build does not work on actual hardware but runs via emulator. The creator of this build is unknown, and a few clues point to an internal demo. The title page Japanese text translates to "For internal playtesting purposes only. Distribution prohibited". Additionally, the bottom screen map resembles that of the Wii U demo. However other evidence points to homebrew tools used for development, what a mystery. To isolate these measurements from the OEM 3DS Screw and Hardware Measurement post I created some time back, I decided to create a new post.

I have also done measurements for other DS and 3DS consoles, so check them out.

How I Measure Screws.

Using a custom chart that I made, I will be using this as a reference to measure each screw with my calipers.

Measurements done with Calipers will only be done on one screw per category, and will be subject to some amount of inaccuracies due to the size of the screws and the tools I have. Measurements like Thread Pitch, Shank Length, Thread Length, and Recess Width are done by eyeballing it with my calipers and a microscope. Measurements like Thread Diameter and Screw Length will be far more accurate as I can physically clamp them in my calipers.

The three kits were essentially the same, save for some differences in quantity. Since my OEM post doesn't have any caliper measurements as of the making of this post, I cannot say whether they make suitable replacements.
