3DS 11.4 Firmware Update Available

0hnqi7q.png

Just today, Nintendo 3DS firmware 11.4.0-37 has been released. I saw no other posts on this so far, so I am posting it. Here is what I found so far has been either temporarily or permanently broken/patched.

BootNTR Selector: Working with latest version (2.7.3)

UDSploit: Patched

Soundhax: Patched (Finally Nintendo... Lmao)

Safehax: Doesn't work without UDSploit, so therefore broken.

11.4.0-37 fixes the slowdown bug for some games like OOT3D that 11.3.0-36 has introduced. Confirmed by @Feffe

Please let me know if anything else got patched. Yes, of course, if you have A9LH+Luma3DS, you can safely update.

Luma wouldn't block it. The point of Luma3DS is to UNBLOCK flash carts (And do a bunch of other cool shit)

I thought so. That's why I was assuming the 11.4 OFW was blocking it. Only after updating Luma did the R4 card work again.

I recommend updating the first page of this thread with a warning regarding R4 cartridges.

I'm a little lost. So, what are my options if I have a N3DS with A9LH and Luma3DS that is currently on 11.3.0-36?

Normally since I am already on A9LH and Luma3DS these small stability updates don't seem to be an issue and I update anyway.

But this 11.4 one seems far more extensive than previous ones in terms of what it changes/blocks. Am I still safe if my N3DS has A9LH and Luma3DS to update to this? Or is it still risky for now? I don't really play DS games on my 3DS, just my own 3DS carts that I dumped to CIA, as well as 3DS-Ware that I bought from the e-shop, and homebrew apps designed to backup/restore my save files between my physical carts and CIA versions.

Mainly, I want to update to access the e-shop and Badge Arcade again.

And if it does cause problems, since I have A9LH would I be able to restore a NAND backup of my previous firmware through A9LH? Or would updating to 11.4 somehow prevent that too?

I saw some people mention that CIAs have stopped working for some on 11.4. Does that mean homebrew apps installed by CIA? Or also games I installed by CIA will stop working if I update? Some of my homebrew apps installed by CIA such as SOON!2 and JKSM haven't been updated in a while, and doesn't seem likely they will have a 11.4 update anytime soon, dunno if they will still work on 11.4.

Nintendo gave up updating the whitelist for ds games a while ago.

if th ewhitleist hasn't been change,d then ofw 11.4 will still run r4is.

Luma3DS patches were broken.

Has this been confirmed?
It's general knowledge from what I understand.

It's what N implemented into OFW and how the reboot patches also work, breaking GBA VC, etc, so in effect, caused issues with R4 cards also. Latest Luma nightly fixes those issues, yet personally I don't use nightlies as they are for testing and not for general use. Ideally, people should stay on 11.3 and wait for a 6.7 version of Luma officially with all the changes applied because there is no need for 11.4 right now.

I understand.

However my point about the warning for R4 cartridges is towards people who don't have CFW like me until recently. My R4 worked on my Official Firmware 11.3 with no problems, however that doesn't seem to be the case any longer.

At this point, I am not entirely sure if it was indeed the new 11.4 firmware, or Luma not being updated that blocked my R4 Gold Pro 2017, but if it is the first, then people should not update to 11.4 if they want to use their R4's.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
