Ok so I have REALLY gotten into PC gaming as of late and I was wondering if anyone could be so kind as to give me their flat out opinion of it.
All of them are steam games,

1. Terraria
What I know: I know its basically 2D minecraft and its got a ton of vanilla content and cheap.

2. Half-Life(1)
What I know: I know its hard and long (Be mature temp, be mature. :I) and that its a bit confusing but I also hear its much better then the "derped up" Half-Life 2, And I like what I have seen so far.

3. Half-Life 2
What I know: I heard it much easier then 1 and it has more shooty shooty and not so much "wtf puzzles?" the main reason I would buy this is to get all the source mods its based off of and the story.

Anyway I just want to know if these are worth buying and such, Im pretty low on cash since I just pre-ordered SM3DL and been making payments, I just want to get a good game that will tide me over for the rest of the year and still have the playability to make me want to come back a month or 2 later and play it over.

I don't know much about Half Life. But I can say that Terraria is probably my favourite PC game.
It should keep you interested until the end of the year after the 1.1 patch comes out.

Half-life I haven't played yet, but I'll give something on Portal if you want..

Terraria..
It's fun until you run out of things to do. Normally, this is remedied by the frequent updates, but the last update was in.. July? And 1.1 hasn't come out since. It's not just 2-D Minecraft though. Minecraft is a building game. Terraria is more of an adventure game.

anyway I dont really know about Terraria but I do suggest both half-life's
I think the platium box for the first one contains half-life, blue shift (story told from a security guards view), offensive force (story told from a soldiers view), counter strike (great multiplayer but most people play css these days), tf1 (yes thats right team fortress 1, not much point when tf2 is free), and the HD texture pack update
there is another expansion pack called Decay however it was only released on the ps2 version of the game, story from the point of view from 2 female scientists, its a 2 player coop game but can be played with 1 player
overall the game is pretty difficult compared to the second

and the orange box would be great to get hl2 and both episodes, along with a tf2 premium account, and portal 1
the 2nd is great because of the gravity gun, find some trash on the floor? pick it up and use it as ammo and fling it at your enemies

Terraria
I have about 90 hours in this game
My friends and I used to play this all the time when there were constant updates and then it got boring and I didn't really like the last update.
As for comparison to minecraft it has crafting and destructive square terrain but the gameplay is metroidvania like. Now that the update spree is over and Minecraft is back to regular updates my friends and I have gone back to playing it and I haven't touched terraria in weeks.

Half-Life 1
I have a little over an hour in this
I found it to be interesting but a little tedious and difficult and annoying to find my way around the map to my objectives.

Half-Life 2
about the same amount of time as half-life 1
Looks much nicer and I found my first experience to be easier but I'm not sure if I played enough to really know.

I'd recommend Terraria since it gets large updates after a long period of time and their will be a lot of new content for those updates.
Or if you really want an fps Half-Life 2 has a lot of mods from what I've heard.

Terraria: Pretty fun. It was a lot funner at launch. They killed a lot of things in the updates. Though new content is nice. They don't update very often, but for $15 or whatever it costs, it's worth it.

Half-life 1: It's alright. Pretty fun and good for the price.

Half-Life 2: Very fun, interesting and basic shooter. Though if you get it and garrysmod, you can play it through garrysmod with the ability to use custom content...
I went through as a sith. Now that was fun.

Half Life 2 "derped up"? What?

Yeah, I have no idea where you got that impression. While I thought that HL2 was just pretty good (I played it 5 years after its release) both games were immensely revolutionary and influential. Both are worth checking out.

As for Terraria, I haven't played it, but my friends really got into it. They described it as "Minecraft but good", so if that sounds appealing then you might as well give it a shot.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
