Hardware 2DS appears to charge but doesn't

Hi All,

Have a Pokemon 2DS that just flashed red when you tried to use it, so I assumed it was the battery.

The battery was replaced but it does the same it will turn on for 30 seconds flash red and then die.

When I run it off the mains it works absolutely fine so I am assuming the charging jack is good.

Short of replacing the motherboard is there much else I can test ?
