Hello!
I am trying to fix a badly abused N2DSXL that has no power.
It has some broken ribbon connectors, a missing shoulder button, a missing cap close to the sound chip (I think) and it had a HORRIBLE attempt at a USB-C mod that consisted of a USB-C port SOLDERED directly on the SD card slot...
I removed that awful mod, but the no-power issue remains.
Symptoms:
- The LEDs don´t turn on, or blink or anything at all when plugging the charger, with or without a battery installed.
- Pushing the power button does absolutely nothing with a fully charged battery or/and a charger.
- The BQ chip is working as expected and the battery is charging, but the LED doesn't turn on.
My latest tests:
- The LEDs work fine. They light up as expected with the multimeter in diode mode.
- Reviewed documentation on BQ24072 (Battery Charger IC) and all voltages are correct.
- Searched for shorted caps in ALL the board and found nothing.
- Tested another battery and charger as a sanity check.
I don´t think that missing cap would cause any of this symptoms. At worst it would cause sound issues.
My guess is that something went wrong with that horrible mod and the PMIC (93045A4) is now dead.
The problem is I don´t know how to diagnose it, as I couldn't find any schematics of this chip.
I found replacement PMIC chips for sale, but I don´t want to replace it blindly.
Does anyone have a diagram with some test points to prove?
Or any ideas on what to test next?
