100 lives trick in Super Mario Bros.

Recently I bought both the original Super Mario Bros. and the japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 (lost levels) from the 3DS virtual console and I've been playing them for a while. I've noticed that performing the extra lives trick using a koopa troopa shell is slightly easier in Super Mario Bros. 2 so the game's physics was changed a little? I couldn't find anything about it on the internet, at least not with the query I used (english is not my first language so it's a little hard for me) what do you think?

    That's one of the issues I have with ecchi stuff recently, it focuses too much on the sexual aspect, not the comedy effect.
