I've been thinking about getting into Magic the Gathering and was gonna play the online game, but before I do that I wanna play the game in a completely free format before I did that. All I could find was Wagic for the psp...So would Wagic be a good platform to see if Magic the Gathering would be something I'm interested in.

EDIT - Where I come from playing things such as pokemon, yugioh, and magic is deemed uber lame by stupid stereo types so I probably have zero friends that play.

Well, first off, it's an awesome game and worth it.

MtGO requires cash so that's not an option.

I suggest borrowing a deck from a friend and playing a few games to see if you like it. Then get a deckbuilder's kit (roughly $20) to build your first deck. Then buy fat packs and regular packs to add-on.

Over roughly 7 years of Magic collecting I've amassed thousands of cards. It takes a while to get into but it's worth it. I play it almost every week with friends.

EDIT: For the record I've gotten two of my friends hooked on Magic this way. Well one I just gave a bunch of cards to. The other bought a toolkit and traded his Minecraft account for a shit ton of good cards.

Search mtgvault.com for a beginner's deck and order the cards from a site that sells singles, then look at some other builds to familiarize yourself with some of the cards you'll be seeing. Once you've been playing with your beginner's deck for a little while, you can decide what style of play you like and look at more complex builds.

MTG Online comes with a few beginner's decks with the initial $10 fee, so that might also be an option. (Again, a custom build would be more competitive, but if you're not worried about holding your own at the outset it shouldn't be a problem.)

As for having people to play with, depending on where you live, there's probably a shop that hosts weekly casual tournaments where you can find people of different levels to play with.

Playing Magic and Pokemon isn't lame, having no social confidence when doing so is lame.

Also, join a message board, watch some Youtube videos, read up on it. If it really appeals to you, you'll know it.

its a great game... I haven't played since ice age expansion so doubt i'm still tournament legal but would love to pick it up again and get in some casual games.... 360 has an xbla game of magic that is a fairly cheap and fun introduction to the basic concepts and mechanics of the game... It is a decent introduction for minimal expense. and come to think of it a little google work will turn up a link to shandalar or duels of the plains walker which is the old school pc version of the game and should be available from abandonware now.....

I stopped buying MTG cards about one Year ago ( I couldn't aford giving any more money)..
It's a very good game, with lot's of strategies and many cards that can be combined together.......

If you can aford it then i suggest you should give it a try... ;)
Even if you don't have any friends to play.
You can try the online game.. From what i heared it's very good....

I'm pretty sure, from what I remember, that you can order a free Magic deck (a really basic one, but you'll instantly know if you're going to like it or not) and pick it up at your local card shoppe.

Then try it.

P.S.: lol Guild I saw pics of you playing Magic, HOLY SHIT YOU HAVE A LOT OF CARDS.

This will probably get hated on, but Duels of the Planeswalkers (360/PC, I believe) could be okay for you to start, I mean, yes, you have to pay for it (£6.99 on Steam), and there is very limited to no deck building, but it will certainly help you get a feel for how the game works in general, mechanics etc.

Never let how others feel sway you from your search for happiness. If playing card games is what you enjoy, then go for it. Doesnt matter what other people think if it makes you happy. And if not, well, atleast you know. :D
