Hi everyone. I got a problem update my 3ds. (itself and Luma)
The universal updater doesn't appear to work. Go to the Updater App, click on luma and boot.firm... but It doesn't change anything.
If I download the Gm9 and Luma and put everything on the SD Card, nothing changed.
I tried for a couple of days now and today I try my best with asking you.

Its a New 3ds with 11.13.0-45, Luma is on 10.2, gm9 on v.1.8.0.

What should I do, please help. Thank you guys.

So can you access Luma3DS menu when holding select on boot, and GodMode9 by holding start on boot?
And that's not the latest firmware your 3ds is on, update it through the system settings..
So does the sd card allows you to copy the latest Luma3DS & GodMode9 files to the sd card but when you access Luma3DS menu it says that's still om an older version, right? Well then update your system.
It the above doesn't work then you need to test the sd card with h2testw for errors. Though don't do that until you confirm the above..

YES! What you mean with update your system? You mean from the Nintendo System? I read that the Luma 10.2 is not compatible with the latest Firmware from Nintendo.

Yes, you'd have to update both the system (to 11.15) and Luma3DS (to v.11). You'd need to start with Luma3DS, copy and paste its boot.firm file to the root of the sdcard, overwriting the existing one.
Last time I tried to do something with Payloads and other stuff, but godmode didn't notice any data in the Payloads folder.
GodMode9 is in the Luma's payloads folder, you can place others there like SafeB9SInstaller & Open_AGB_firm (for example), you access the payload page by pressing the "start" button on boot. There you could choose between the ones you have..

So you say, if I update my system & change the boot.firm. My 3DS will start normal & the Luma3ds will update to V.11?
Cause on the Github site it says that the 10.2.1 update fixes the Problem with the 11.14 Update.
i do it now & tell you if it worked.

thank you

it doesn't work. Now it says:
An exception occurred!

And without the SD Card it does the same.

Yeah but I found the problem. It was the SD Card. Format the Card and now It works. It shows me the latest Luma Version and the 3DS boots perfectly.
Without you I wouldn't updated the System.

Thank you very much!

You should check it with h2testw if i were you. To make sure it's not faulty or defective.
Backup your data before attempting the test.
Do so with the write & read setting.
Format it as FAT32 32kb clusters before and after the test..
I wouldn't recommend using it of it fails the test..

Well, that was stupid. I forgot to save rosalina settings when I changed back to download play, so it booted back to the homebrew launcher. :P. I fixed it.

Heyah ! I'm back with another noob question :

I'm gonna cfw the 3DS of my gf. I had fun doing that with the Mario Kart 7 method haha. But I've an issue. Her SD Card Size is 2Gb and so I'll be short in size for the nand dump since I need 1.3Gb and I've 900Mb left (the Nintendo 3DS folder is 900Mb big)

So i've two ideas, but not sure which one would work :

1) I'd in mind to just move the Nintendo 3DS folder at the step of dumping the nand that way, and then put it back again once the nand has been moved. Would it make any issue ?

2) Could I use one of my 4GB SD Card (used for the 3DS that i've upgraded in size), move all the folder, do the dump and once done remove everything to the 2GB Card ?

Obviously, we'll upgrade the SD Card later, just a lack of time right now haha

Thanks o/

Create one, and i don't how you installed cfw without having a payloads folder that's inside the luma folder (which you don't have).
I highly recommend having GodMode9 on the sd card.
Merge the one that came with the patch, with the one that you've created that contains GodMode9 etc. And continue going through the instructions..

To CoolMe:
Actually I didn't hack this, it was hacked already when I got this N3ds. I'm totally newbie with N3ds lol. And the seller also don't know anything thought, he got it from someone :)).
So I don't really understand what you mean.
I copied the Luma folder from the ROM hack to SD card but the game still normal version.

As I google and check with my N3ds, it done the "Copying Luma3DS to Your Internal 3DS Storage" step already, and now in SD card only has 2 folder - CIA & N3ds. Could you help me to explain your suggestion please ?

You could do it that way if you want.. Though i wouldn't recommend it. Or if you still want to go with it, back up any of your installed games (with GodMode9) & game saves (with Checkpoint) beforehand..
2) Could I use one of my 4GB SD Card (used for the 3DS that i've upgraded in size), move all the folder, do the dump
Yes. If it's completely functional. Though i would still check it for errors with h2testw, since it's a 4gb card, it's got to be atleast a decade old by now and could be dying..
and once done remove everything to the 2GB Card ?
You "move" the Nintendo 3DS folder, along with all the other homebrew apps, files, folders etc.

So I don't really understand what you mean.
I would suggest redoing the Finalizing process from the guide here, to set up the essential homebrew apps that a cfw'ed system needs in order to function.
I copied the Luma folder from the ROM hack to SD card but the game still normal version.
After you do the above. Bokt into Luma3DS Menu by holding "select" on boot, and check "Game patching" and click "start".
and now in SD card only has 2 folder - CIA & N3ds. Could you help me to explain your suggestion please ?
Assuming you have FBI installed, so you can install/uninstall cia files aka 3ds games.. i would still recommend having a 3ds folder on the root of the sdcard with the necessary .3dsx homebrew applications that're on the guide i linked to above.

And you said you copied the Luma folder to the root of the sdcard and yet you still have only 2 folders there (cias & Nintendo 3ds)? Or was that before you copied it?

"Assuming you have fbi installed, so you can install/uninstall cia files aka 3ds games.."
=> I had the fbi, that why I can install the original version of ultra moon haha, just can't play the hacked ROM. It's seem the one did the hack done all things follow the guide and format/ clean up the SD card.

"And you said you copied the Luma folder to the root of the sdcard and yet you still have only 2 folders there (cias & Nintendo 3ds)? Or was that before you copied it?"
=> it was before I copied, when I just got the N3ds in hand. Now it has Luma folder with the other 2.

I will try to follow the link you gave, just 1 question: should I delete the Luma folder which I copied from the hacked ROM and create a new, blank one ?
