can anybody help me? i have been trying to install botw and i finally have everything except for the base game nsp, which was too large to move it to my sd, so i splitted it into parts but cant merge it using NSPsplitty because of an error mesage saying "there's not enough space in the disk", idk why it shows this as it's almost empty and the nsp is surely lower than the maximum capacity of my sd card. i saw on a post that using nx-shell can make installing splitted nsp's into the switch, but i dont really know how to do it, i cant find it anywhere. do i need to merge it before using it? i am trying to use the "set archive bit" thing but it does nothing, or at least i think so, should this be working? am i missing something?

it’s unrelated to nx-shell.

Most installers will handle large files automatically and do the splitting for you.

Which installer are you using?

Here are some of the installers I use.

Installers

  • Tinwoo — A nice installer for when you just want to install
  • Tinfoil — Polished installer. Recommend the Self installing version.
  • DBI — Capable feature filled and fast installer.
  • Goldleaf — The kitchen sink but it can also install games.

All of them handle installing large games without the need to do manual file manipulation.

I would like to extract a game update from my clean sysmmc (using NxNandManager) without any cfw and then install the update to my emummc.

How can I do this? In NxNandManager, I found several .nca files (meta, program, manual, control) for my game, but which of them will I need to install the update? And how will I be able to install these files to my emummc? Should I convert them somehow to nsp?
NXDumptool can dump games installed on eMMC to xci/nsp. But you’ll have to run CFW on your emunand. Will that work?

I use tinfoil but i splitted it because i have a fat32 sd and i couldnt move it to the sd because of the "this file is too large" error

Don’t move it to the card. Too slow. Use USB install instead. Much faster, less steps and you don’t have to take your card out anymore.

Here are some examples or how to install game backups using USB on your PC…no more copying files! :-)

Here is one way to do it: tinfoil-nut
I am already trying that, except now nothing shows up in usbfs:/, i've looked it up and the solutions were reinstalling the drivers and disabling MTP, which didn't work. It also doesn't show my switch is connected in NUT

Edit: re-enabled MTP and NUT is now showing switch is connected

I already tried that, several times...
You can double check the drivers here:

DBI Drivers DBI needs drivers for USB (and there are two different types!)

If that doesn’t work there’s honestly not much else to try.

Maybe take a look at DBI? It’s less finicky.

Tinwoo is also very solid.

I would like to dump from my sysnand, not from my emunand. And I would like to keep my sysnand clean from any cfw. That's why I would like to use NxNandManager to dump the update from my game.

I know, that I could create a new emunand with cfw from my current sysnand and then extract the update there. But always creating a sysnand backup for a new update is quite time consuming, so I would like to have a faster method: by directly dump the update from my sysnand without any cfw, with NxNandManager. And as I saw, that this tool provides a method to extract the update files. However, that are nca files and I am not sure, how to deal with them.

Can I hack my Switch Lite without installing that illegal hardware mod-which-name-I-forgot prior?
Switch lite requires a mod chip from HWFLY (or sx lite mod chip from TX…if you can find one.) There is no other way for the Lite, I’m afraid.

I hear you. For the record running CFW on Sysnand is absolutely not a bannable offense. SciresM himself runs this way and Atmosphere is designed precisely for this reason. Installing non-nsp homebrew is also not a bannable offense. All changes carry some risk but this is on the extreme low-end and there are no records of people being banned for this (without other piracy/cheating activities at the same time.) That said, I see your point, so let’s see if we can figure out a way to do this.

My switch is down at the moment for some hardware mods so I can’t test myself directly, but I thought you could boot into Emunand/CFW and chose emmc to dump games from Sysnand? Is that not the case?

So, there's only two options available? How do they differ from each other? Which of the two offers more benefits/easier to install?

They are both the same. TX was the original and are now very hard to find. HWFLY cloned the chip and makes continuously improved versions. Check aliexpress for latest (4.1 I believe).

I dont think, this is possible, because each emunand is a self-contained system. It cannot access any kind of data of the sysnand. If it is possible, I don't know how to access it.

I never saw an option to choose emmc within an emunand, I only can choose emmc's in hekate.

My memory must have faded. I thought for sure it gave you the option. Sorry I can’t test other options right now.

Anyone else have ideas here?

If I would do it that way, what would be the safest setting in hekate_ipl.ini to launch atmosphere on sysnand? I found two ways to do so:

Code:
[Atmo Vanilla]
fss0=atmosphere/package3
kip1=atmosphere/kips/*

or

Code:
[Atmo SYS]
fss0=atmosphere/package3
emummc_force_disable=1

Or is there a better way?

Hi all, so I decided to go from SX-OS to atmosphere. Main reason is, sx-os is clearly dead.

I never used atmosphere before and it seems a bit quirky compared to SX-OS. Hoping it's just somethign I'm doing wrong.

Main issues:
Black screens, These things I keep seeing are a lot like the Windows blue screens. I'm sure the crash dumps mean things and maybe I will have to learn them to diagnose my issues. fortunately I only see this in home brew apps. but these are all apps I used all the time with SX-OS with no issues. Some times they run ok with atmosphere other times I get the "black screen". My SD is FAT32 and I have the latest atmosphere and latest firmware.

This software has stopped.
A good handful of games start the load screen and then crash. This is specific to certain games (example Mario golf - gives error 2002-4153 | animal royal, shredders revenge no error just said go back to home screen ) and consistent (they always crash). Games are updated, an firmware is at the latest approved version. Not sure how to make these games work. I tried installing to nand and SDcard both give this error. I am using emunand (does this mean installing to nand is still on the SD?). I pulled out the card ran a check and defrag in hopes it would move the file if in a bad spot, reinstalled but same error.

smaller things I'm curiose about:
SX-OS has this really nice menu with FTP stealth mode, updates, etc. I found with atmosphere I need to download home brew apps to get these features. Is there something I'm missing, a hidden menu?
Can not use portable HDD's but I think this is known?
No way to mount a game, this was an SX-OS only thing?
What is a sig patch and why didnt SX-OS need it? - I put some sig patch updater on my switch hope runing that is sufficient?
If you're only seeing the crash with homebrew apps, then its possible you aren't launching them with enough RAM. If you're using the Album to open the homebrew menu, you probably will also see the Applet Mode message indicating that you are launching the homebrew menu as an Applet which limits the amount of RAM for homebrew apps. For full RAM usage, you will need to launch the homebrew menu via title override which you do by holding R over any game/title then launching it.

That error code seems to be associated with the SD card and not the games since it triggers for people without modded consoles. I'm not sure if you ran a legitimacy check but check to see if its a fake SD card or not with a tool such as FakeFlashTest. Its also possible that the SD card is dying.

You're looking at the "missing features" the wrong way. From TX's point of view, they only want to use whatever applications comes bundled with SX OS which severely limits your options (notice how they made SX branded versions of installers and save managers?). Atmosphere doesn't come bundled with any homebrew applications because the expectation is for the user to download those themselves because the homebrew community has developed hundreds of apps. They cannot assume what homebrew apps the user will need or find useful so none are pre-packaged with the CFW (except for 2). However, there are people who offer Atmosphere packages with some homebrew apps pre-bundled. One of them is called DeepSea. Note, they are still offering the same CFW which is Atmosphere; it just comes with some homebrew apps that you may or may not find useful.

The HDD support is a misnomer. Atmosphere fully supports HDDs, potentially more than SX OS. It just doesn't launch .XCI files like SX OS does. However you can install .NSP files from HDDs or even move files from them. And the reason Atmosphere doesn't support launching .XCI files is because of the associations with piracy. But installing .NSP files was deemed fine because there are non-piracy uses such as homebrew apps.

There is no such thing as a "sig patch". What actually exists are ES, FS, & Loader patches. ES patches are short for Eticket Signature patches and these allow .NSP files to be installed then launched. FS patches stand for File System patches and these enable installing .XCI files and homebrew .NSP files. Basically these patches allow .NSP files that aren't signed by Nintendo to be launched. Loader patches are a subtype of FS patches because Nintendo moved the signature checks in their OS from FS to Loader so these patches needed to be developed.

As long as your not connecting to Ninty with piracy installed (nsp or xci) on your Sysnand or cheating in Online games there’s no issue with whatever way you want to boot CFW/Sysnand. It’s inert.
