Why won’t bigger batteries work in New 2DS XL?

I saw people saying that there are no larger capacity batteries for the New 2DS XL, but there are higher capacity CTR-003 batteries which is the same kind that the New 2DS XL uses, so why won’t those work? Are not all CTR-003 batteries the same size?

The New 2DS XL doesn't have user replaceable batteries, so you'd need to open yours up and hardmod it. I personally wouldn't

Energy density.
Current battery technology doesn't allow much more than what is already in there by default. There is no room for a bigger battery (unlike the Wii U Gamepad that came with a lot of empty space and a bigger battery sold separately (WUP-013 instead of WUP-012).

There are a lot of batteries on the market with ridiculous values printed on (like 2000mAh or even more for a CTR-003 shaped thing). That doesn't work. Those are fake values and often perform worse than the original or a third-party battery with honest values printed on.
I see no reason why a battery that works on 3DS shouldn't work on N2DSXL, but those cheap things won't offer more than the original.

It can be replaced but it has sticky tape taping the battery to the plastic on the unit.

Are you supposed to attach the new battery to the old sticky pad, or do you need a new adhesive for the new battery?

i love how nintendont says "dO nOt rEpLaCe bAtErRy iT wIlL dAmAgE yOuR sYsTeM" you can, but the battery has a really a strong adhesive, as long as you can deal with that then you can replace the battery, i would recommend putting some adhesive but it is not necessary
