bro, you do NOT want a 1080p screen on the switch. Nor only you will not be able to use 1080p output as many people said, but also it will litterally look worse than on a real 720p screen.
upscale is ugly and blurs everything, while muting colors. Theres a reason 540p games look very bad and blurry on the switch when they looked extra crisp and sharp on a vita.
Even if there was a way to actually output 1080p on the internal screen (which there isnt), you would need either to have a v2 switch or be plugged in all the time to use like reversenx to get docked graphics. And this isnt even a good solution, because switch games that actually render docked at 1080p are not very common, even less these days. Most of them are like 720/900p max and can even be lower than that. and this is docked, meaning handheld will be much worse.
People need to understand resolution is not everything and a lower resolution screen can sometimes result in much better graphics like on the steam deck. People were disappointed at the decision of it being 720p but they have no idea how good of a decision it was. As someone who had a ps vita, that console was plagued with subnative res games and it made them look ugly as hell despite having one of the best screen for years. Too bad the actual screen of the deck is a complete mess, i do hope the next one will have an oled and stay at 720p
Im actually gonna get a modded switch oled just for that. This model feels like the pspgo of nintendo. A technically useless revision with a big change that nobody really cares for and a myriad of unfixed issues, but their true potential comes when they get hacked. With reverse nx and the mariko chip, you are able to play almost all switch games at at least ,native res and with an amazing oled screen. I really dont think theres anything that can beat this as a switch gaming experience, or handheld experience at all on some specific games because again, the screen of the steam deck is absolute trash and some games like cuphead, dead cells, ori, okami, rayman legends and so on will look 10x better on the switch oled than on the steam deck.
I understand why they used this cheapass 2012 poorly calibrated low quality screen to reduce production and cost issues since it was their first try to release a real handheld console (and theyre still having trouble producing enought units) but man, i really wish they didnt
