Hey All,

I have been doubting for an Oled quite some time, put since I have a V1 Unpatched.. Why bother and was searching wat happens if you put a 1080p internal lcd into the Switch.

I found one on Amazon by SRJTEK: B07MX6X28G

I have been using the search function here and Google, but not found any members who tried…

Would it work?

Because it's not possible

The switch phyiscally doesn't output 1080p till its docked thru their chip. I'm pretty sure games tend to use an internal resolution of 1080p when using ReverseNX though, but it still doesn't change the fact that the switch is 720p.

Other issue is too, if the screen really is 1080p, that 720p handheld mode will NOT look as crisp on it. That's because (and this is a theoretical if it did work as we imagine) 720p doesn't upscale evenly to 1080p. 1080p is 1.5x bigger and it's not an even factor. Now if the display was 1440p, since 720p is a factor of QHD (times 2 length and width) it would "look good" as 720p scales a clean 2x on it.

I think this Amazon review of the item sums up the situation perfectly:
Question:
Why does this state that the lcd has a 1920x1080 resolution? if it is for the nintendo switch, it is 1280x720.
Answer:
Because it’s an aftermarket part from China and they typically can’t even spell stuff right yet alone get tech specs.

Omar Espinola, you win the 18 Jun 22 Occam‘s Razor Award for your keen observation of reality. Keep up the good work, sir!

YES you can put a 1080 screen but the PHYSICAL driver only send 720 to it, so you put a bigger pixel screen but just display the normal 720 pixels.

is like you have a 4K screen an display HD content on it, the content is displayed a little worse (normally your eyes can't tell the difference) than on a native HD screen (deppending of the internal scaler).

so, in this case you will spend a lot of money only to get in the best of cases, the same picture.

that part is a OEM replacement for the Switch is the fact could display 1080 but the switch only send 720, you can't hope changing the screen will change the way the SOC is designated.

That seems sketchy to me. Searched the model number and it only returns 2 pages of results, all linking to the amazon listing (including some drop shipping sites and someone selling them on facebook). So imo it's just a random model number made up by the seller (like the brand name), and it's the same old 720p replacement screen.

Here's a list of all known screen models on switch (taken from hekate's source code):
Code:
 * Switch Panels:
 *
 * 6.2" panels for Icosa and Iowa SKUs:
 * [10] 81 [26]: JDI LPM062M326A
 * [10] 96 [09]: JDI LAM062M109A
 * [20] 93 [0F]: InnoLux P062CCA-AZ1 (Rev A1)
 * [20] 95 [0F]: InnoLux P062CCA-AZ2 (Rev B1)
 * [20] 96 [0F]: InnoLux P062CCA-AZ3 [UNCONFIRMED MODEL REV]
 * [20] 97 [0F]: InnoLux P062CCA-??? [UNCONFIRMED MODEL REV]
 * [20] 98 [0F]: InnoLux P062CCA-??? [UNCONFIRMED MODEL REV]
 * [30] 94 [0F]: AUO A062TAN01 (59.06A33.001)
 * [30] 95 [0F]: AUO A062TAN02 (59.06A33.002)
 * [30] XX [0F]: AUO A062TAN03 (59.06A33.003) [UNCONFIRMED ID]
 *
 * 5.5" panels for Hoag SKUs:
 * [20] 94 [10]: InnoLux 2J055IA-27A (Rev B1)
 * [30] 93 [10]: AUO A055TAN01 (59.05A30.001)
 * [40] XX [10]: Vendor 40 [UNCONFIRMED ID]
 *
 * 7.0" OLED panels for Aula SKUs:
 * [50] 9B [20]: Samsung AMS699VC01-0 (Rev 2.5)

for that product on Amazon not in any place the say anything about "1080 upgrade" is only a screen replacement, and as it will work just the original:

again you can't upgrade the res if you don't upgrade the hardware.

think about: you have a PC with a video card with max resolution of 1280 * 720 and you buy a 4k monitor, UNLESS you change your video card the screen never will show more than 1280* 720 period.

on the switch the SoC have all components and CAN NOT BE UPGRADED. (easy)

an example of an ORIGINAL panel:

you can see physically is 1280 * 800 so really desn't matter the physical pixels, count what signals the controller send to it.

I just remember the 2DS it does NOT have 2 screen, but a big screen behind a plastic bezel so more than half of the screen is unused. and part of the screen have a resolution and the other part have another, really is done on software no on the screen.

It probably work but it is not oem to me more of third party knock off.

Games which output 1080p in docked mode will look better with this if you use Reverse NX. I'd prefer to keep the 720p screen because many games such as Xenoblade Chronicles run at 720p in docked mode and most 60fps patches only work in the lower resolution handheld mode.
