Can you be a little more clear? How doesn't it work? Do the modpacks show up to select at all when you launch MK8 after launching SDCafiine? Or do the modpacks boot but then the game freezes when you launch a track?

Cuz if your problem is the latter, the solution is to just reload and try again, it's a little finicky, but once a race properly loads, all races seem to load without issue in that play session. If the modpacks aren't appearing at all when you launch the game, then that means you have not properly placed them exactly where they need to be on your SD card.


While I'm here, to anyone interested, I know this is long delayed, but I do have a sizable update coming that will replace all the remaining old but retextured tracks in Invitational and 2nd Tour with brand new tracks to Mario Kart 8. Hopefully I'll get that out by the end of the week.
currently i can get into sd cafiine and launch whatever but nothing happens when i go into the game my current file paths is Sd:/sdcafiine/000500001010EC00/content and then your files do i need to change this, also i have tried the id title for digital editions, I'll start trying other regions id title since im not sure what the au one is

I tried to play it, 2nd tour crashes when trying to load a track, battle and FX crash when starting up and invitational works just fine. Using an EU system
Just try again and again. As I said before, it's finicky, but once a single course is loaded, you're pretty much in a safe play session that wont crash.

Yes, all those extra courses can be selected and played, with exception to the page of the Expansion Pass courses, that page is essentially just a placeholder from the creator of the cafeloader engine for the time being. Now, don't go expecting this tomorrow or anything like that. There is a lot that still needs to be done before this is in a decent state to share. Lots of things just hinge on when progress to the CTGP-CafeLoader occurs. I can work with the framework here, but I can't create the framework here lol. We're waiting on the ability to put music over the additional courses, right now they're all silent aside from the original courses, we're also waiting on the ability to put custom map objects in the game, because as things stand now, while the custom courses will play without much issue, many map objects have been altered making some of the vanilla courses to look strange. When that does become an available option, I do not look forward to the headache I'll have of having to go back over every custom course and finding which had map object changes and then altering them to be their own thing for each map that has them.

And there are other little issues here and there: lots of courses don't have maps, the changes to textures and models to in race items can't be implemented yet or the game will crash. But these are not the pressing issues that map objects especially are, or even course music. I'm sure you might have a question or two about something that might seem wrong that you might have seen in here, chances are, I'm aware of it, and there is a reason that you're seeing things the way that they are for the time being.

For now, just be patient and enjoy my older available modpack. The nice thing about the ctgp-cafeloader layout is that this will change from 6 separate modpacks to just 2, One with all the original MK8 characters, and one with the many changed characters that were available in the modpack I had dubbed Invitational. But we wont need a separate Battle modpack, as now we can separate the battle maps without affecting the race maps, and in fact have more of them as well, as things stand the battle maps total 16: the 8 from MK8 Wii U, and the 8 from MK8 Deluxe. Hopefully my next update wont be a long time, but for now when that will be is out of my hands, as I'm essentially just waiting for progress with cafeloader to occur.

On my Wii U, I play vanilla MK8 off the disk, but I also dumped my copy and installed the MK8DX battle mode tracks thanks to wargreymon on a certain banana website, so that I can actually play decent battle mode on Wii U.
Those patches replaces all course data for the tracks that MK8 originally had in Battle mode (so Mario Circuit, Yoshi Valley, etc.), such that normal races on those tracks are unplayable.
How difficult would it be to have the Battle Mode grab unique assets, instead of the space-saving trick that Nintendo used such that races and battle mode grab the same course data?
Or, I suppose, implement something akin to what you showed above, where the original 8 (garbage) battle maps are on the first page, with user-provided maps on additional pages?

Here is my suggestion for you, head over here: https://rambo6dev.net/ctgp/ and install CTGP-cafeloader on your SD card for the Wii U. This is what my updated mod here is based off of. Not only will you get all the original MK8 tracks, as well as a handful of custom tracks and imports, but it properly expands your Battle Course selection, not only do you get the lame original 8 battle course of MK8 on Wii U, but hit R or L, and you'll be able to select any of the battle course from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch, without damaging any proper race courses at the same time.

This currently is how my unreleased update functions as well. So I too have the 16 total battle courses, Unfortunately it's not yet programmed to allow us to expand the battle course roster any further, which is a shame because there are 2 or 3 battle course imports from older Mario Kart games that are also available that I'd love to add, but right now that would mean either removing one of the Deluxe battle courses, or replacing an MK8 Wii U battle course which would still break it's race course equivalent. But I believe this may be addressed in the future to expand the battle course selection even beyond 16.

Cuz yeah, that's the update, a new version of this modpack can now be downloaded, it is an alpha so it has it's issues, but it's made for real hardware, US copies of the game, Can be alterred easily to run on Eur copies and in CEMU, and will run without crashing (for the most part, it will crash if you switch from single player to multiplayer or vice versa, so don't do that). The included readme should answer just about any other question you have. A full video showcase is in the works, but for now just enjoy the small video showing the full course selection menu, and then if you want it, hit that download button below it!

Yeah the discord disappeared for me as well. The timing is very curious, I genuinely wonder if me sharing my modpack using his cafeloader plugin, for whatever reason upset Rambo6Glaz, the owner of the Discord channel and creator of the new MK8 mod engine, and he shut it down completely? I really hope that's not the case, his work has been so useful, and I thought he was OK with others using the engine to make and distribute their own modpacks. If I misunderstood how he feels about that stuff, then I want him to know I'm genuinely sorry, and I really hope he doesn't abandon the project entirely.

Anyway, as for you, here is the file that I believe will fix the issue for Eur copies of the game. Anyone else trying to play this on a Eur copy of the game after following the readme to get it running on such a copy, but noticing that the place icons (1st, 2nd, etc.) during a race error out and don't appear properly, try downloading this zip, and extract it directly to the root of your Wii U SD card, hit yes to overwrite if it asks.

I can now confirm, this has fixed the bug and now working correctly. *Tested in both your New alpha build and your old release. Thankyou for providing the fix.

I can now confirm, this has fixed the bug and now working correctly. *Tested in both your New alpha build and your old release. Thankyou for providing the fix.
Not a problem, honestly wish I had known about it earlier in the 6 modpack suite I had previously made, it was a very easy fix.

is it possible to get the waves DLC from Switch on Wii U? Im sure there is possible?
Check the courses, 7 of the 8 tracks out so far are in there. Only Tokyo Blur hasn't been ported yet, but keep in mind, due to how MK8 on Wii U is programmed, alt paths per lap aren't really possible, so Paris Promenade doesn't change it's layout throughout it's 3 laps, and Tokyo Blur would be the same way if it gets ported too.
