Hello.. using build1.0.1b,
i have both base and update NSP. Game is "Mario Strikers: Battle League"
Base (eShop) - NSP - 1.87GB
Update 1.1.1 - NSP - 327MB

Try to merge into XCI single File. but got UNKNOWN.xci. These issue not occur on Mario Kart 8.
Steps :
1. Choose 2 - Multi pack mode
2. Choose i - see files to process. *previously jobs already drag the file
3. Check Files to process. Its correct, base NSP and UPD NSP.
4. Choose 1 - Start processing current list
5. Choose 2 - Repack as XCI
6. Choose 0 - don't patch required system version
7. Choose 1 - MERGE all files into single file
8. Wait process
9. On NSCB_output got UNKNOWN.xci

Xci isn't the issue. Xci is just the format of a rip of a physical game. Nsp's are a rip of eshop games. xci was mainly used for mounting on sx os. so since sx os died at ofw 11.0, xci became "obsolete".

i cant remember if the last update of NScbuilder did this, but there was a new "format" for nsp's bout 6 months ago. so more than likey that new "format" isnt supported by nscbuilder.

i would try SAK (switch Army Knife)

EDIT; also, you should be able to do all that to a nsp if i remember correctly, but im not 100% since i havent merged updates, dlc and base game in a long time since i find it easer to keep everything separate for maintaining updates for games

That's absolutely wrong, XCI and NSP are just different formats that can both handle the same
and has absolutely nothing to do with physical or eShop version.

i see... So any other way to merge file Base + Update / DLC into 1 file? *except XCI format.
So you don't want XCI because you still use SXOS ? Then please FORGET XCI.
If you still use SXOS, you can't play most of the new games because the need newer SDK that requires newer FW then 11 !
FW 13 includes SDK 13 etc. You can't play a SDK 13 game on FW 11, no chance.
So Mario Strikers: Battle League would never work with SXOS.

Of cource, simply in another NSP including all:
- Most importantly is always to use the newest keys, so now from FW 14.
- Use the 2nd mode MULTI-PACK.
- To add base+update+dlcs you have to drop a FOLDER with everything inside. NOT the files themself !
- Now 1 for start processing current list, again 1 for Ticketless NSP (or 2 for XCI) etc...

Is working fine with NSCB v1.01b + Mario Strikers: Battle League, NSP & XCI, tested it a sec ago.

To combine base + update + dlc, you need to install everything in the emulator (ryujinx or yuzu).Through it, dump folders exefs, romfs, logo. From update, extract the folder control. Next, collect nsp which will be smaller than base + update + dlc

Yes, great explanation, on switch, there’s no “backport” solutions like on PS4

@medeka Has it worked now ?
Its worked now.

but some different steps / methods,
- change with new prod.keys (download using emusak) *prod.keys rename to keys.txt

- Add / drop 1 file at the time and then press enter, not all file or Folder. (all files on 1 folder btw).
*Also i have issue NSCB not print path (empty) of my file when drop files / folder (ex: D:/Switch/Games/[FileName.NSP) to NSCB, and NSCB will crash / closed when press enter. so i need type the path file manually. Using build 1.0.1b and 1.0.1

- Try not change filename and result is success (Mario Strikers Battle League [010019401051C800][v131072][US].nsp). previously the filename is "Mario Striker BASE.nsp"
