buy a 8 pin pic adapter from Radio Shack, only 99 cents/$1.49 for the two pack. Quicksolder the WiiKey to the top of one of the adapters. (Use the Wlip guide to see where the wires are connected to their adapter, and make sure you solder to the correct top points that line up to what is in the guide.

Do you have a link to that adapter? not totally sure what you mean? do you mean a pic which you can solder wires to the other end sorta thing, basically 8 firm legs connected to wires, just kept in place with a piece of plastic?

So the top part, not the legs is what to solder the Wiikey too, so that the legs can still be inserted into the Wlip's adapter.

I asked the Wlip people and they said that that will work.

Non-cut pins. I'm not getting anything to work. It seems I can't get this damn PIC programmed properly - so I need someone to suggest a PIC programming software to use. And it doesn't look like my computer is burning the full images on to DVD's so I'm getting thoroughly pissed.

That being said, what PIC programming software should I use?!

I guess the problem isn't the program, it's the POS USB-SERIAL cable that I have. I can't get ANY driver to load for it, so at this point I'm SOL. Any suggestions, or direction to a driver would be great. The thing is this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...:MEWN:IT&ih=012

EDIT: Ok, looks like I found some drivers that are working. The PIC is programming now and I'm about to test the Wlip out again.

doesn't it come with the driver on that cd mentioned?

also why dont you try just plugging it into the serial port?
No drivers will load off that CD. And we talked about this already, my programmer has a female connection as does my serial. So they can't just plug in. It's programming still.

Well, I didn't know they had those. I'll look at picking one up tomorrow. The PIC keeps failing verification. I'm going to try programming with lower or higher voltages to see if that works.

Ok, using IC-Prog, I've gotten the PIC to seeming write properly. So I'm writing the YAOSM 2.0 for the PIC12F683 to it now. It seems to take a very long time to write (on the order of 30+ minutes), is that right? Also, without the little notch out of the Wlip, I'm confused as to which side of the drive chip my Wlip is to be installed. So here's a picture and a question for you:

PICT1428.jpg

I guess I'm leaning towards the one on the right because that's how I think they orient it on the Wlip demonstration.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's the one on the left.

EDIT 2: Actually, it's on the order of about an hour to write on PIC 512 kb PIC. Crazy...

So how long til you know if it works? *excitement* *drama*
Well, I'm burning a game right now with ImgBurn and writing the PIC. So in about 45 minutes I'll know if my final attempt for the night is successful. If it's not, I'll just have to give it another go tomorrow. I feel alone being the first - the guinea pig for everyone! Haha. I'll get it sooner or later!

Well, I'm rooting for ya - mine isn't even here yet and I'm still waiting for a pic chip.. er.. maybe I'll just solder my Wiikey onto the Wlip. /sigh

EDIT: Good luck Bobitos! I hope it all works out for you. Did you have to pay duty/taxes when your Wlip arrived? If so, how much was it?

Son of a b-word! That took no less than 56 minutes to write that PIC and it failed verification. I don't get it. This had better work tomorrow after I pick up that female-female adapter. Boo.

Bobitos.
It was the left Pic.

I got mine in with the WiiKey and everything is working so good.
The clip went in nice and easy and it was so easy to solder.
Just take your time and not rush it and all is going to be good.
It fits in nicely and feels secure like it wont come off easily.
The up date to the WiiKey only took about 7 minutes.
Very nice product. If anyone is thinking about getting a Wlip.
STOP thinking and get one as soon as they come back in stock!

I hope to see many more success stories soon.
