Well once you install either cfw or soft exploit, you can either use cfw to boot into cfw directly, not needing a gamepad or softmod witch you will need it for. If you boot into cfw directly you can setup to not need a gamepad, but not for softmod.

you can play nintendont with a pro controller if that's what you're asking. I don't know about wup hax as I used smash stack to hack the vwii. iirc, you don't need the gamepad for that method, but it requires a legit version of smash bros for the wii. iirc, it exploits the stage editor function of the game using a special stage on the sd card, but that's about all I remember about it. there are other games you can use, but wup hax would be the easiest method probably.

And with TeconMoon's injector, you can play GameCube and Wii games and choose if you want to play with the GamePad or not. Hacking your vWii isn't needed for injections and the games are showed on your Wii U menu. You can also choose to inject Nintendont, so you can play GameCube ISOs that are on a SD card or FAT32 USB drive, like with a vWii hack. USB loaders for Wii games can also be injected but you need to hack your vWii.
