i installed the rgb board for my nes the L78S05CV gets hot very fast with the case of and on is this normal do i need to worry
data sheet says max temp is 150c

Have anyway to measure the temperature? Three hundred degrees F is pretty high as a cutoff temperature. Most computer processors or gpus shutdown way before that.

i removed the video but temps go up to 61 degrees celcius ! max temp is 150 c
i orderd a 8v 1.3amp new psu and see if it heats up les

Regular US NES, i.e. "front loader?" If yes, did you install the supplemental voltage regulator that comes with the NESRGB kit for your model? If yes, then start looking for a solder bridge somewhere in your install.

normal front loader pal nes and yes i did install the extra regulator ,the stock nes regulator i replaced with L78S05CV data sheed says 150 degrees c ,if i had a solder bridge i would have glitches etc sound problem wich i dont everything is working perfect just the heat
hope the new psu is coming in the mail this upcoming week and test some more ,retro tech usa did some testing with this and he says its normal after the mod

Hmm. Well, hope you get sorted. My NESRGB is still in the box, haven't installed yet. I have an AV Fami that I bought in Akihabara in 2013. (Pics HERE ) So I'm hoping I don't run into any such problems. If you don't mind me asking, how did you go about the desolder job on the PPU? Did you use a dedicated desolder gun?

i did use a solder pomp hako there is no way you can desolder the ppu with solder wik or hand pump use some extra tin and good flux take your time
