Exactly right. It's a shame that Michael is so against piracy, or else we'd have all the best of SX OS preinstalled for free, sigpatches and all. I'm kind of upset that nobody has made a fork of Atmosphere with the sigpatches already included in the installer. Seems like a no-brainer to get noobs off on the right foot.

That is how SciresM is he doesn't support piracy, nothing wrong with it, some developers support piracy, like Reisyukaku, some don't so we got to respect their decision.

Well, yeah. The wifi would make the installing tinfoil slower than just using the XCI. But the method would still be wayyyyy slower regardless of whether it's the app or the hardware. It's just inefficient in comparison to USB.

I read in another thread that SXOS is pretty close to being completely reverse engineered.
but your been a moaning tw@t making out its terrible, in fact its not, if you know what your doing you can download games pretty fast.

xci loading is irrelevant, the time it takes you to download it on your pc, copy to a usb hdd, or install - users would have already downloaded/installed in one smooth task.

sx os hasnt been reverse engineered, there is a guy who can trick the activation process, there are clone chips surfacing, no one is going to waste time updataing sx os when its not needed, atmos does exactly the same job - minus xci which is a big no go but thats something you can read up about at a later date.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

You won't get it from team reswtich, as SciresM doesn't support piracy, the closest thing to USB mounting was FSP-USB by Xortroll but the project was archived.
im not fussed about the feature, i could see advantage with sx os and xci - but to remain on sx os when its now a dead service is pointless.

you can use the likes of tinfoil and install games with no problem at all, the above guy bitching about speed should look at his settings or get a better isp, games dont take long at all.

Not sure if posting this here is allowed, but does anyone know if there is anyone on the forum that I could buy a SXOS modded gen2 switch from?

You need 100 posts to gain access to buying/selling section on the forum. You are better of finding one with a trinket m0 instead if you goal is a modchip unit.

Nah. just run atmosphere emunand with sx os sysnand. and u good.
ChoiDujourNX is less safe than Daybreak, and ChoiDujourNX has also been shown to cause issues with users migrating from SX OS to Atmosphere, particularly on Mariko units.

Anyone wishing to upgrade or downgrade their system version, whether it's on your sysMMC or emuMMC, should use Daybreak instead of ChoiDujourNX.

Regarding Choi/Daybreak: If I have always been on SX OS w/dongle on an Erista Switch (using ChoiDNX to do FW updates) is there something I need to do prior to migrating to Atmosphere?
Still thinking about trying to figure out how to do a dual boot option, (SX or Atmosphere) but i've never setup an emunand. Can SX stay where it is and Atmos act as an emunand on the same SD card?

If you want to use SX OS with your sysMMC and Atmosphere with your emuMMC, for example, you can do that. However, it's generally regarded as an unnecessary waste of time, effort, space, loading speeds, etc. Migrating to Atmosphere is recommended instead. SX OS has been abandoned and will receive no future system compatibility updates.

You shouldn't need to do anything prior to migrating to Atmosphere if you're using an RCM exploitable Switch. Just download Atmosphere and the necessary signature patches and boot into Atmosphere. Any games you played by launching XCI files will need to be installed to the system instead.

You can set up both atmosphere and sxos. On the same card. SX will need a minimum of an 8 GB emunand. But you get USB loading.Or you can setup separate cards. No need to ditch SX. Run both. Pm me if you want

SX is still the only USB loading solution. If you're okay with ditching your USB drive then go ahead and switch the only atmosphere. I myself choose both

I don't use USB loading, but I do have XCI files that I don't mind converting. I guess if I can figure out these sigpatch thingies I should just go all in to Atmos.

Last week I updated to 11.0 FW and now Goldleaf doesn't work anymore. (as soon as I click on it, it takes me right back to the album/homebrew menu) That was my fav program because if I ran Quark in the background, I could browse/transfer via USB cable to my PC, and was very quick.
Will Goldleaf work in Atmosphere or I should be using something else? (I prefer file transfer via usb vs. FTP'ing btw. I don't want to have to mess with more networking setup unless there's no other way)

Thanks!

You dont need to convert them saying you use an installer that supports xci installing. Strongly suggest using dbi installer. Lot of good ways to install games/homebrew nsp's.

As for file transferring, you can find mtp homebrews to use, but I would recommend using hekate's ums feature (that and hekate's just a great tool in general) but setting up ftp is hard. All you need is a homebrew like ftpd on your switch and Filezilla on your computer. Open up ftpd on switch, it'll give you the ip and port you need to use. Type that in Filezilla and your off to the races.

Also sig patches are easy to setup. Most of the time (depending on what source you get them from) they're setup so all you have to do is extract and drag n drop

So I backed up my SD card, formatted as Fat32, copied back over everything and followed a "SX to Atmos" type guide, and it seemed to work ok. (although Goldleaf still won't launch, but Tinfoil does)

All my previous loaded nsp's seem to be working, but only tested a few. I'm still on 11.0 fw so that needs to get bumped up to 12.1, yes? Should I create an Atmos emunand? If so, how do I do that?

Or should I just run Daybreak as is, and update to 12.1? (would like to not blow fuses, just in case)

Now I don't know what's wrong. I tried to setup a chain loader to autoboot into atmosphere when powered on w dongle. (Bypasses having to select via Hekate) but now either the screen stays black until hard shutdown, or I have to hold vol+ when booting and only sxos boots. Atmosphere isn't there anymore...???

Should also mention I'm fine to completely lose the sxos boot menu. I want to update to 12.1 fw, so the SX boot.dat and license won't even trigger right? Think I need to start over because farthest I get is a black screen w sideways error text.

Just backported some latest games and DLC for 12.1.0 Works fine on SXOS. I hate to give up XCI's

What does backported mean?

I am massively out of the loop here as havent downloaded or updated switch for like a year (using sxos, previously updated via choidj..)

In theory, can i just keep loading new games through tinfoil without needing to be on the latest firmware?

I don't think I have perms to PM. Can you write a "quick rundown" on the process of running both SX and Atmo on same card? Or maybe you can PM me? To clarify, I'm indeed SX OS user (no hw mod), looking to migrate to Atmo.
