should I install this to have yet another entry point or is it still too early? there's no coldboot method, and it doesn't allow piracy by default (just a way into the homebrew launcher). watch the demo video if you don't know what this does.
Especially this one should NOT be used, because it is buggy and untested. In the worst case you will get a brick, and it has no uninstaller.

I also saw some conversation on discord where Maschell said that tampering with the Health and Safety app now will almost certainly cause problems with the Aroma installer when its released. I think it was @QuarkTheAwesome that did something with the H&S app and had to do a bunch of shit to get it back to a state that would play nicely with the Aroma installer. Maybe they could elaborate further, but I don't think its recommended.

that was my fear. I didn't know that this existed yet until someone on the board mentioned it. I think another person installed it, and said that it worked. however, I thought I'd ask before I took the risk. aroma was what I was thinking as well -- whether it would cause problems with its installation.

While this exists and does work (aside from the aforementioned lack of safety measures) it's not Aroma, and really only lets you into the HBL - which imo, isn't very exciting.
My woes were actually from an older, alpha version of Aroma, so I have no idea how it'd interact with a custom FailST setup, nor do I think anyone has tested that. I ended up having to blow away the title and reinstall it, and even then it was a bit flaky and the Aroma installer still complained randomly until I got lucky and it went through. Would not recommend. I believe maschell said he had "no idea" why the installed didn't like my console..
So yeah, if your endgame is installing Aroma, I would suggest holding out with existing methods, since at least in its current state the installer requires a more-or-less stock console (though it did uninstall CBHC for me).

The failst-installer that will be bundled with Aroma has quite paranoid checks to ensure the system won't be damaged. It always prefers to aborting the installation instead of risking a brick. Inside the installer there is a list of file hashes hard coded and the installer trys a "dry run" to check if a installation would result in the expected file hashes. If **anything** is unexpected, the installation will be aborted and you can't proceed.

When using a "3rd party" failst installer the resulting file hashes could be different and so the installer would refuse to install aroma. Even if the files itself are totally fine: as long as they don't match the expected hash you won't be able to install aroma.

If you know what you're doing, you don't need a failst-installer at all. If you don't know what you're doing (=> would need a failst-installer) I would suggest to wait for the failst-installer that is bundled with aroma (at least in case you plan to install in the future aroma) to ensure compatibility.

Quick story time:
Even if you know what you doing I would suggest to don't skip the installer. I wanted to test something (increase the codesize in cos.xml), but the installer didn't let me to do it because I had still coldboot activated. So instead of implementing my changes into the installer (or disbaled coldbooting into H&S), I bypassed it and modified the files directly... and bricked my console. It turns out my cos.xml changes were faulty and now my console is coldbooting a bricked title. My installer has warned me, but I though I would be smarter. If I would have used the installed, my console would still be alive.

I'm always interested in these new exploits, so I wanted to have every entry point possible. I installed indexiine on my system a few weeks ago, even though I'm using cbhc. to a degree, I enjoy the hacks and exploits more than the games. that's true of all systems I own except for the wii u and the switch though. after reading about the problems with this installer, I deleted the rpx version of the homebrew channel,, which I think you replace the health and safety rpx with iirc. I think it said something about that in the video. then, modify the cos.xml to work with it. I'm not too familiar with the cos.xml or what its purpose is, but I was going to get it from the health and safety app just to see it. anyway, all things associated with this failst installer had been deleted from my pc. I'm glad I asked or else I probably would've tried it. someone on here mentioned this installer to someone else, and he installed it. he mentioned the homebrew launcher worked, so I thought it might be okay, but I wasn't going to risk damaging my system, a system I play almost daily, for something I was unsure of. thanks for the suggestions, guys.

I'm currently rocking CBHC but will switch to FailST once the installer and Aroma is ready for primetime :) cant wait!

I've been using cbhc for like five or six years, I think. and, I play my wii u daily. I went through dkc returns, tropical freeze, and nsmb u yesterday, trying to get to 99 lives. got there in all of the games, and I only died once from a stupid mistake. I go through the stages normally, collecting all kong letters or star coins, then see how soon I can reach 99 lives. it's one of my favorite past times. :D

I tried out FailST and installed the homebrew launcher rpx to one of my system apps. I was just messing around to see how it works, and it was simple enough. I made several backups beforehand so it wouldn't interfere when it's officially released.

I haven't used my WiiU in a couple weeks the Switch takes up alot of the free time these days, but I'm hopeful once Aroma is out in the wild there will be a big push and we'll see alot of new homebrew an some beefy upgrades to existing (cough Retroarch) Homebrew ;)

don't have an exploited switch, but one of them is exploitable without a modchip. I kept it for that reason (have three switches altogether). I find that most games I pirate I don't even play, so I'm happy to buy games again. of those three games I mentioned, only returns is pirated.

I still play Splatoon 1 every few weeks, and the Wii U is my go-to for Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword.
