Hi,

I know I can install games directly with Tinfoil, but what if I also want the .nsp to backup externally in case I need it in the future and Tinfoil no longer exists?

Thanks,

If you are searching for an alternative nsp installer, you can use this.
If you are asking if it is possible to install nsps without any homebrew app: No, it's not.

Hi, sorry, I didn't explain very well.

I'd like to download the nsp's with Tinfoil, but instead of only installing it on my Switch, I'd like to also save the.nsp to the SD Card, so that I can backup the file on a Hard Drive.

For instance, I like to have all my game files on HD, downloading from external sites on my PC, instead of relying on Tinfoil. But there is a game update that I can't find anywhere (but Tinfoil).

You can. Navigate to the location of your nsp file in tinfoil's filesystem and chose "copy"

Thanks for the tip. I tried it, and looked into tinfoil folder on the SD Card, but couldn't find the copied file. Is there a specific folder where it is saved after pressing the copy button (L)?

I don't have my switch nearby but logically you'll need to paste it where you want it to be

Thanks. I didn't knew about that functionality.

What I ended up finding, is that after I install a game, plus updates, and DLC, I can go to the Installed section of Tinfoil and use the "Dump NSP" option, and Tinfoil will save the NSP for the base, dlc and update on the switch/tinfoil/dumps folder. Then I can just move it to my external hardrive for backup purpose.

I hate ordering stuff online if I can go buy it somewhere close to me, and everywhere anymore will give you a discount only if you order it online, bs. Should be a discount if I go pick it up, not order online.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Mostly for big purchases, I want it in my hands before I pay. Like a tv, I trust picking it up myself, before I'd trust it being sent thru mail/delivery. (Broken screen, etc) But yea if I can order online, then pickup at store is ok, but not all places offer that.

Thing is, if you break it driving back to your house, it's your fault. But if the delivery driver damages it, it's not your fault.

Then I gotta send it back and wait another week or two. I have a pickup truck, with a extended cab, so no prob for me.
