  1. I recommend reading this thread about AutoRCM to answer all of your questions about it
  2. It is not because Incognito is not recommended. 90DNS is safer and easier to use.
  3. Do you have the patches?
There is no Switch "V2". There are the Erista consoles which can be either patched or unpatched and then there are the Mariko units which come in the red box with increased battery life.
Assuming the emuMMC never goes online and the sysMMC never runs CFW or homebrew, then there is little to no chance of a ban. It should also be worth noting that if you stay offline with sysMMC and keep emuMMC clean to go online with it, the chances of a ban are identical.

Erista units are consoles that do not come in the red boxes/increased battery life. However I would advise against getting the SX Core since core members of TX have been arrested so who knows if they will continue support.

Do you have the patches to launch backups?

If it is the only backup causing issues, it may be a bad dump.
can't I just by sx and use atmosphere though therefore bypassing the need for their support if I have Erista unit

Also I thought it was just Gary and some sales guys

Payload injector is the device that you send a payload to launch an RCM app (hekate/lockpick/Incognito/...) in the basic. You can use your pc or android device for this. But it is easier to use devices that are built for this purpose, you can search them up.
So i can use my smartphone for that? And how? I guess i need a particular USB cable...

Hello to all. Puzzed dad here, still learning and trying to keep up with the Switch CFW scene as it evolves.

We have 2 Switch consoles in my home, 1 unpatched that we use for CFW and another patched that is used for online.

My son has been using CFW on emuMMC for most things on the unpatched switch, but we have cartridge versions of both Sword and Shield that he plays on the original firmware. We recently tried to do an update for Pokemon Sword in the OFW, but it looks like the console has been banned online.

I have a few questions:

1. Is it worth still using 90DNS or Incognito?

2. I would like to get rid of the emuMMC if it isn't necessary anymore. What should be my next steps?

3. I use Checkpoint and JKSV to backup saves, is one preferred over the other?

Thanks for taking the time to read/reply.

1) No, you don't need them anymore.

2) I wouldn't recommend that. EmuMMC's only use isn't just for online play. As an example, if something happens to your console or you do something that causes damage on NAND then it would just ocure in emuNAND and wouldn't affect the sysNAND.

3) There isn't that much difference between them, as far as I know.

Got it. Thanks for the quick reply.

I guess, now I need to try to get the game save from the sysNAND onto the emuMMC. is there an updated guide or posts detailing this process?

You need to open JKSV/ Checkpoint on SysNAND and backup games that you are going to transfer it's save data. Then boot into EmuMMC, on there open JKSV/ Checkpoint. "Click on to the game, choose restore save. Then select the backup file you just created." do this process for all the games you have backed up.

We have never used homebrew on SysNAND. How do I get it up and going? Do I just follow the this guide again?

You don't need to do anything special, if you are using Hekate, click launch and then CFW SysNAND. If you are using SX OS, hold "+" during boot and click the green emuMMC button, then choose Custom Firmware to launch.

Nothing to do with this, but make sure you have a NAND Backup if you haven't done it.

Thanks, we are using Hekate.

Definitely have a NAND backup on multiple drives (at least 3 I think, LOL). I've had drives fail in the past...

Thanks again. Have a great day.

Hey
I'm totally new to the homebrew scene of the switch but I wanted to ask a question nonetheless. My main objective is to modify my save of ACNH and inject it back. I suppose it could be done easily with Checkpoint.

My Switch is not running on any EmuNAND, CFW nor received any operation yet. I'm on 10.2.0 firmware.

It is possible to achieve what I want on my version ? If it can be achieved, what is the easiest way to do so ? Can continue to play online afterwards ? I have no interest in using my CFW after modifying my save, how much would you qualify this operation on a ban rate ?

Thanks for your answers

Firstly, there will always be a ban chance but you can decrease this chance.

You should check this site to learn if your switch is patched or not. If it is not, then follow this guide. However, if it is patched, you can still hack it via Sx Core (a modchip) but I don't think it is worth the effort for just a save file.

Great news for you. I am writing the steps that you should follow after you hack your switch:

1- Directly create an emuNAND from Hekate, don't boot into SysNAND. (Make sure that you have a NAND Backup too.)
2- Close switch, insert sd to your pc, and download checkpoint to your switch.
3- Re-insert the micro sd, boot to Hekate via rcm, and then click Launch and after that choose CFW EmuMMC. Close your Router to be %100 safe.
4- When switch boots up enable airplane mode.
5- Hold "R" while launching a game and then choose checkpoint from the homebrew launcher.
6- Select your game, then click on backup. ,
7- Close your switch. Now your save data is on your sd. Use the editing software to edit it and then re-insert the sd. (Don't forget to put the new save data to SD and make sure that you have a backup of your save.)
8- Then reboot to Hekate, click launch, and then CFW SysNAND.
9- When it boots up enable airplane mode. Now you can open your Router.
10- Hold "R" while launching a game and then choose checkpoint from the homebrew launcher.
11- Select your game again, then click on restore. Restore the new save.
12- Try if the game works or not.

NOTE: If you are NEVER going to use CFW again then reboot to Hekate, and delete the emuMMC. Then never boot into Hekate again. Just do normal boot. (Don't care about this if you still going to continue using CFW)
NOTE 2: When you are going to go online, reboot without hekate. You should be in OFW.

Do you have the patches to launch backups?

.

Yes, I just updated my sigpatches, I am trying to play the PGA 2k21, but it just sits at a black screen after the nintendo logo appears. I have let it sit for 10 minutes thinking it might be doing something in the background, but nothing ever happened.

Thank you so much @GCS, this is definitely a lot of work so I'm gonna take my time carefully but I'll follow these steps with care. I'm sure it'll be right, thanks a lot again

For SysNAND, you can update with official method, if you cannot update with official method then make sure that you have a NAND backup and update with Daybreak (comes pre-installed on atmosphere).
For emuNAND update with Daybreak.
You can update to 10.1 for now until most hb titles are compatible with 10.2. But you won't be able to choose which fw to update with official method.
I’m going to do a restore of my sysnand and then update it officially. My question is will it effect anything on my emuMMC? And what and where do I need to backup? Like my saves

It is a hassle to use Atmosphere on the SX Core because every time you turn the console off, you will have to use the SX Cleanup from the menu in order to boot Atmosphere.

GaryOPA was the lead promoter of SX OS and even before he was arrested, he has stopped posting updates for the CFW for quite a while. The other two people are not sales people as one is the head of TX and the other is their main programmer.

How is your SD card formatted?

You don't need to do restore your NAND backup, just make sure you have a SysNAND backup in case something goes wrong. (You get a backup with Hekate)
EmuMMC won't be affected from this. None of your data will be deleted both in SysNAND and EmuMMC.
