I recently got a Wii off of ebay, it had no video. From what I know it wasn't modded. Well I fixed the video output, but it says the system files are corrupted after I click A on the startup screen. It runs in maintenance mode, and I tried formatting it there, but it kept formatting for about an hour even though there was only a few blocks of save data. Once I leave the settings the screen just goes black, same thing happens if I reset it. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you maybe also tried to delete Save Games and maybe unneeded Channel Data like this really unnecessary
"Wii and the Internet" (I think this needs over 1.000 Blocks/200 MB).Please do not confuse it with the "Internet Channel".

Good Luck
Thank you.:)

Sounds strange. Maybe a bad NAND (could be wrong)?? I would try starting an exploit, install HB Channel and BootMii (in boot2 if possible). Create NAND backup as soon as possible. Install Priiloader. Reinstalling System Menu might repair the damage or not – could be risky as well if the NAND is really going bad. Don't forget reinstalling Priiloader after System Menu.

If the NAND is going bad but still good enough to boot homebrew (BootMii in boot2 and/or Priiloader) you can use some kind of EmuNAND. ModMii should be able to assist with that.
=======

How did you fix the no video issue? Hardware problem? There had been some consoles with that problem. Could be helpful for others.

Good luck!

Well, now when I go into the data management section, it freezes.

How would I go about homebrewing in maintenance mode? Is there a way to get around the no message board issue?

There are so many exploits not requiring message board. Str2hax and Bluebomb don't even require a disc.

There isn't one inserted. I think when it was formatting for about an hour I probably messed it up more, now it won't even load the blank blocks.

Ok,that is not so good....
What happens please (Wii turned off),when you press and hold RESET on our Wii and power it on please ?

May I ask please,do you have an Wii Retail/Original Game ?
If yes:
Please try, also the Wii powered off, insert the Game Disc, what happens then please ?

Thank you.:)

I suppose I could do Bluebomb but I'm gonna need Linux first. I'll try that.

When holding reset it does nothing, no priiloader. I tried putting a disc in but it's like locked, won't accept a disk.
Edit: I got the disc to go in the console, but it still doesnt do anything

I got the disc to go inside the console, but now it won't eject the game or read it.

Also as feared....
May I ask you,can you maybe open the Wii,I think, maybe something "stuck" inside or maybe worst,is broken..:(
Do you need a Manual for this Work ?

Thank you for your Assistance.:)

Well, I have the Wii open right now, and there's nothing inside of the tray. It only seems to click or beep once every few seconds. It's trying to read it but can't

Got the game to spin, boot, and eject, but once booted it says it couldn't be read, in giant text. does this on both games. And yeah, I only paid 9 dollars haha.

(Did the Seller told you of the "Issues" your Wii have ?)

Did you maybe have checked the Mainboard too ?
Around the Video Connector ?
Maybe the previous Owner was a Wii "Tinker"...:D

Thank you.:)

Yes, the video connector is good now. The seller just said he couldn't get power. I do think that he used a replacement DVD drive. In the pictures of the Wii drive online, I see completely different colored ribbons, unless that's just a revision thing. It also is a lot louder, but it still spins and reads. Is there anything that may have damaged memory physically that I should look for?

Oh that's right. Thanks. now I just need to download it but my internets reaaaally slow lol.
Eh, just make sure to put the bluebomb tools somewhere (that's easily accessible) on the drive. IIRC it's a command line tool, so you're probably gonna need to open a terminal window
