Okay, sorry if I didn't understand correctly, but is it possible to get 30 stable FPS instead of a fluctuating 25-30FPS? Perhaps using the performance v2 but with a 30FPS cap since I don't need more nor I want a fluctuate 30-50FPS?

Thank you very much!

I'm confused by what you're asking here, the game by default runs at just over a constant 30fps. The purpose of these mods is to use the extra power from overclocking to either 1) target 60fps gameplay OR 2) disable dynamic resolution and lock the highest resolution possible at a playable framerate.

If you only want a completely locked 30fps rather than the default 31-34fps that the game runs with then just solely use the 30fps cap mod.

Hi,
once i've DL this pack what am I supposed to do with it? ( Install it on the SD root?)

This information is in the OP in the section entitled "To use the mods", the titleid folder is the 0100D7800E9E0000 one. If you still don't know how to use them look up the basics of using LayeredFS and sys-clk.

I'm using SX OS, so is it possible to use layeredFS ans sys-clk with it or i must format my SD card and install atmosphere instead?

Just put the file(pack) on your sd card (sxos/title/..) Not more
I am using this too with sxos

Then Use sys-clk to overclock

I really wanted this game on Switch but I have a mariko unit and hate uneven frame-rate so I got it for Steam, loving playing at 120FPS with no dynamic resolution but wanting to play portable...oh well.

Is this mod working with version 1.01 or just 1.0?

They work as they are with the demo, 1.0.0 and 1.0.1 and will work with future updates unless there's some kind of drastic change, which is very unlikely.

Having both versions with a hackable Switch is amazing, the savegames are interchangeable between Switch and PC.

Performance mode has been improved and updated thanks to the suggestion by @Kirby567fan The mod now takes full advantage of dynamic resolution. Pack has been added to OP. If you were using the original performance mode download and update to this one.

New description from OP for Performance mode v2:

No changes to the Quality mode or 30fps mods.

Described in OP, depends on which pack you're using.

Try the new performance mode v2, you can actually underclock the GPU which will do the best job of saving battery, resolution will drop hard but performance will still be good.

I don't see any OC value in OP... Did you remove them ?

Any way to lock the resolution at 720p in docked mode? Disabling FXAA? I have an mcable, so 720p would look better than 900p upscaled by the Switch.

Edit: what would happen if I set my Switch to 720p TV output? Would the Graphics mod still be active? Would the game render in 900p and downscale to 720p? The UE4 handles resolution rather weirdly from what I've seen in DQXIS.

All games doesn't check what tv resolution are you using. So everything will be resized to match what you set.

Great job! The game runs mostly smooth as butter now.

What I'm most surprised about is that with OC, during basic gameplay temps stay under 50 degC. It's the CUTSCENES that ramp up temps and fan speeds significantly. Is that because game uses high-quality assets during those?

Now I only need a Difficulty mod and I'm a happy camper. The game is not nearly hard enough, especially on New Game +.

Thank you @UnT7oh for the performance mod, it works great. Without it, it was basically unplayable for me. However, I have some concerns temperature wise. You said, it is recommended to use the highest overclock values for the best performance. While that is certainly true, I came across a rather troubling problem.

I used these settings:

docked_cpu=1785
docked_gpu=921
docked_mem=1600

The SoC reached almost 70 degrees. Without overclock I never saw my Switch's SoC reach that high temperature before. It was very concerning. There is no doubt that overclocking rises the overall temperature, that much is true. However, I do not want to damage my Switch.

How high can the tempature go, before the Switch decides to shutdown itself? I must admit that yesterday was a very hot day and my room is normally very hot. At the moment it is rather cool, so I think the temperature will not be that high anymore. Still, is it really safe?

So, to combat this problem, I tried different settings, namely these:

docked_cpu=1683
docked_gpu=768
docked_mem=1600

The performance was still good and I could see the temperature falling to 65 degrees.

Would you be to kind and tell me, whether this is okay or not for the Switch? @masagrator

Well, 70 degrees is definitely higher than average with this clocks. On your place I would consider changing thermal paste.
And about temperatures:

Are these good OC settings for this game with Performance V2?

; Trials of Mana - Max OC
[0100D7800E9E0000]
docked_cpu=1785
docked_gpu=921
docked_mem=1600

Using these settings, I was hitting 60-65c on the SoC in the character select and tutorial section. Is this safe?

Yes. Better look at Skin temperature.

The game will utilize as much gpu power as is given to it, with or without using my patches, that's just the way the engine works. If you overclock without the patches it will still utilize almost 100% gpu trying to max out resolution using the dynamic resolution engine it has. gpu of course generates the most heat so it's to be expected that you're going to hit some pretty high temperatures with a max overclock.

Whether this is "safe" or not is more of a discussion for the sys-clk thread rather than here but of course you overclock completely at your own risk and you can expect to shorten the lifespan of your console compared to stock clocks at least. Also make sure you read the resources that masagrator shared to see when the Switch will automatically sleep itself.

I see. Can you point me towards the parameter to set the docked resolution to a fixed 720p then?

The one attached to this message should be locked 720p in docked and handheld instead of 900p in docked, I made it when the demo was released.
