I have read a few threads about this situation before but I accidentally updated mine due to having a newer internet router and forgetting to block DNS to stop official updates.
Right now:
It's on 5.5.4E, the DO NOT TOUCH functions like a haxchi loader and the Wii U Homebrew app goes to black screen after loading it up.

Has anyone managed to restore the coldboot feature on haxchi after updating the Wii U firmware?

Good, it only brings disadvantages :)

You will simply have to run the HBL again and use the CBHC installer another time to fix it;
the HBL option in CBHC's menu is equivalent to a browser exploit in that it requires the non-channel version (1.x) of the HBL on a properly accessible SD card - alternatively, if you had it installed, you could choose to start CBHC's builtin CFW ("boot system menu") and use the channel version of the HBL!
