Ahh... so i see your problem, now. You were using outdated HBC. You really don't need to use both prehistoric versions.

Use the latest one, which is already fixed, no need to force aspect ratios.
https://github.com/FIX94/hbc/releases

After installing the new one, just delete the oldest channels.

ok I just installed it and I'm pretty sure it's the same I had installed for 16:9 display. It has the same result on wiisxr's screen mode settings. Selecting 4:3 will stretch the buttons and everything else fitting the entire screen and 16:9 will correct them but no matter what I change the actual game display will always be forced to 16:9.
I guess I'll need to keep the 4:3 homebrew channel for now just in case even though I'll probably never gonna launch wiisxr in vwii because I need the patch first in the wii u side.
But anyway I realized I could make a forced 4:3 wii u forwarder for wiisxr with teconmoon's injector so problem solved!
And for the games that I couldn't run I think I'm gonna try a different source or a different image format and see what happens.

edit: apparently teconmoon's injector won't let force 4:3 wii homebrew apps, only nand apps

I believe the original Wiisx would give that message sometimes (sometimes even seemingly every time you try to save), but would usually still save anyway. Maybe whatever caused that message to incorrectly show up in Wiisx hasn't been fixed for WiisxR.

I suggest double checking if it actually failed to save. I don't recall Wiisx ever actually failing to save when it gave that message, so you're probably good no matter how often it says that.

I know this probably won't be updated at this point, but after having issues getting ePSXe to work on my PC, I gave WiiSXR a try, and while it works, one of the games I wanted to try and get working was a Dance Dance Revolution title, and 5th Mix, at least, does work fine in gameplay (music wheel stutters, but that's sufferable; the actual gameplay is the most important thing). but since WiiSXR doesn't support either HID controllers or the Gamecube adapter like Nintendont does, for example, there's no way to use dance pads with it.

If WiiSXR did ever get updated to support these features I would be most grateful. Again, not expecting it at this point, but just thought it couldn't hurt to ask. It would be a super convenient way to play old PS1 DDR games on my TV (assuming they all work as well as 5th Mix does).

Thanks again.

Check out third party adapters for wiimote, like ps1 to wiimote, meaning that you could plug a ps1 dance pad to your wiimote and use it with wiisxr (haven't tried it but it should work). Also I'm pretty sure they made official dance pads for wiimote when they released DDR games for the wii and those should work as a classic pro controller hence compatible with wiisxr. Just make sure the DDR games play well on the emulator first (music sync, input lag, etc).

I made memory card save files for psx games that crash early in the Wiisxr 2.3 build. This will allow you to play these games.

Valkyrie Profile (U):
SLUS01156
Disk 1
Normal difficulty. With your first soldiers. Works with heavy slowdown during battle.

Final Fantasy 9 (U):
SLUS01251
Disk 1:
At the first save spot where you crash landed. Works well with minor slowdown.

Lunar 2 - Eternal Blue Complete (U):
SLUS01071
Disk 1:
After the Intro. Disable the voice over in the menu or else the game crashes when you use the bommerang.

It would be great if someone could play these games to see if they crash later on.

I tested this emulator, for some reason Silent Hill runs faster as hell, in counterpoint, Gran Turismo runs slow. GTA 2 doesn't works well, the soundtrack is missing.

For Silent Hill, select Interpreter for normal speed. For other titles, consult this compatibility list to see what does and doesn't work: https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/WiiSXR

I played Valkyrie Profile, Lunar 2 Eternal Blue and Final Fantasy 9.
All 3 crash early in the game.
