Only Dragon Quest 11 DLC and some updates require FW 9.0 right now, I'm sure there will be compulsory 9.0 games in the near future. FW 9.0 added stylus support and Nintendo started selling stylus recently. But until then, I'll stay at 8.1.

hmm I'm sure stylus has been working previously.. my daughter would use the stylus on the switch becasue she was so used to using it on 3DS

There's a setting for stylus sensitivity in 9.0, so maybe it works better, especially with that new stylus.

I can't get the DLCs to install, the uploader said it requires 9.0, patching it for lower firmware will crash the game frequently.

So not all the custom xci works? But what if we install those custom xci using the built in installer? Still doesn't work?
ok when everything works 2 pages, when something fails 100 :P
Haters, ahah I was about to say this too, I knew everything was working fine as soon as I saw it was a 3 pages only thread

This update is practically useless for me. Way too late to save my emunand. Only a few of my 100+ custom xcis work yet (can install and play fine, still won't boot from the V2.9.1 Games menu). I deleted all my old v1.0 xcis a while ago. Oh, and the b button crash (yaknow the one EVERYONES been expeiencing) on exiting sx menu is still there. Nice!!
You'd have to be bonkers to nonchalantly update to 9.0.1 after this weeks calamity!!

Oh, and Stealth Mode, seemingly a really important function is STILL not working ... even though its highlighted in green.

I had a error leaving the album screen while in docked mode with 2.9.1 so it's not 100% fixed as claimed.
Also launching sx installer in docked mode crashed, i think homebrew sometimes crashes while docked.

Yes, it's possible. In the telemetry a lot about your switch is saved. For example the serial. I would recommend you actually use Incognito on the one you wish not to talk with Nintendo so you don't send away unwanted data.

there's been a LOT of chat today with people testing custom XCI files with SX OS 2.9.1 and from the last I could only three didn't work - I won't name them as N might take offence. Anyways, the solution was use NSCB to unpack, then repack them. Simple as that so far.

I have it installed DC11 and all DLC on SX emunand which is still on 6.1.2... with SX OS 2.7.1 and it works fine, no crashes so far... but I only played for a couple of hours

But we didn't pay for Atmosphère lol

You mean just like how we pay for software on PCs and consoles, developed by teams of hundreds of programmers and that software never needs day 0 patches?

The update is even labelled BETA. Hopefully a rule people learn while they are still in their teenage years and remember it going forward. NEVER update immediately, wait a few days at the very least to see if any probems are encountered and the company then releases another patch (or in Microsft's sace.. publish a patch, then have an update to remove the patch).
