I'd like to restore it to its natural state. It'd take too long to explain why, but anything like bootmii, cIOS, etc. I would like gone. Completely. On top of being unwanted, some of it is causing issues (i.e. the software I installed for GameCube backups broke compatibility with real GameCube discs). Also, I do not need any replies questioning why I need this done. Sorry, I just do. If you want a reason, it may sound weird to others, but I now see as something like a tattoo I regret getting.

It'd be convenient if I could keep my saves (I've long since lost my digital content), but if that isn't possible without leaving traces, so be it. Unfortunately, I can't remember all of what I have installed on there.

Can I use an unbricking method to reflash the NAND with native firmware? And does anyone know if you can still update firmware since they closed the Wii Shop Channel?

<EDIT> I found a page called "Reverginize/Clean Update". Hopefully that will help anyone looking for help.

Now, I need help. NandClean won't boot on my system for some reason. I have my system updated to 4.3U if that matters.

2 questions, and I'm not asking why you want to turn back time to before you messed with modding your wii

First, do you have a bootmii backup from before modding your console?

Second, do you care if you leave some mods in place so long that all the original functionality is restored?

Either way you'll want to post a Syscheck or update the console to 4.3. If already on 4.3 you can reinstall all the original ios's overriding darkcorp garbage by using ModMii. Modmii is safer anyway, in case you happen to have your hands on a console that was originally Korean and later region changed, official updates would result in 003 brick, but ModMii protects against this. Most people with these kinds of wii's don't realize it until they try to update, brick, then Google what causes a 003 error.

You definitely want to share a syscheck to get more targeted advice. If you open your syscheck.csv onto ModMii it will analyze it for you and suggest optimal updates to your wii, but obv it suggests other mods, but these are safe and never loaded unless u actively launch homebrew so doesn't interfere with anything. Or if you really want a virgin console you can skip installing certain things but that again will require more targeted advice

Thanks for the reply! I had whatever BootMii tutorial was up to date in 2012. It appears that system updates had already removed the cIOS using IOS slot 249, as well as the GameCube launcher (which was DiosMios or something like that). GameCube discs were working again. Thanks, Nintendo! I also deleted WADs using the Homebrew Channel and then ran HackMii to uninstall BootMii and the Homebrew Channel. I had save data for WiiFlow that I just deleted using the GameSave manager. As far as anyone can notice, it behaves just like a Wii that never had Homebrew installed.

Now, about that targeted advice. Does that actually remove 100% of all traces? People were saying around 2009 - 2012 that removing every last trace was an impossibility.

It is impossible to remove all traces to an expert doing a deep dive. But you could remove traces that even advanced users would have difficulty catching. But again there's not much point and you would need access to homebrew to do so, and if you already deleted the homebrew channel then you'd need to either reinstall it or launch syscheck directly from an exploit, then based on how those results look you would install stock items to overwrite customizations (or delete entirely by carefully using Any Title Deleter)

For example, you may still have IOS236, 202, 222, etc., all of which may have survived a Nintendo update since they don't stub over those slots. Those IOSs aren't harming anything by being there, but if you want to clean up everything we would need to first check and see what's there... this is where syscheck comes in.

In my opinion.... If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But if you STILL want to remove all traces (or as close as we can get) you should run syscheck and post the results.

Unmodding, huh? Not so common, but I’d say go for it!

You’ll need a lot of WADs, this includes the System Menu (for removing any MyMenuify themes), the WADs for the homebrew apps you want to delete (because that removes the tickets as well) and probably some IOS WADs if you did stuff like installing a cIOS.
To make it easier, use something like WiiScrubber and take a disc with a Wii “UPDATE” partition. They usually contain v4.3 WADs to make life more easy.
