Everything worked on 8.0.0. Then I got a new SD card and re-did everything from sdsetup just to get the newest versions of everything and re-installed my games. I use Kosmos/Atmosphere, latest sigpatches, games are installed with Goldleaf/USB.

After this, For every game I get the "Could not start the software. Please try again from the HOME Menu." error. Also, in data manager, it will find corrupt data in each game. I've tried both exFAT and FAT32 on the SD card, but this happens also if I install the game on the internal storage.

I also tried 8.0.1, no change (didn't really expect it, but it seemed to also be supported and I was out of options). Maybe because of this, my old SD card also doesn't work now.

So you get this error even after reinstalling the games and even if the games are installed to NAND?

Yes and yes. I've tried to delete every trace of the game (save files, tickets) and re-installed it fresh. I even factory reset the Switch (had nothing important on it anyway, save files are backed up) to really make sure it's a fresh install.

Older build of 4NXCI convert NSP have problem on 8.0.x, could be bad conversion, try other games. Technically you can copy and paste file over, no need of new setup.

Grab the file here, extract it, copy the folders to your SD and overwrite anything it prompts you to: https://gbatemp.net/threads/i-heard-that-you-guys-need-some-sweet-patches-for-atmosphere.521164/

It really sounds like something didn’t go right with the sig patches and it doesn’t hurt to redo them just to be sure.

What happened to your previously installed nsps? Do you still have the old SD or something that previously worked in NAND?
The old SD has since been formatted, because it also stopped working. I assumed it was because of the 8.0.1 update, and just re-did everything on that card as well just to make sure the new card isn't faulty (this was before I tried to install internally).

I'm installing the exact same NSP files as before back in the day. I keep a backup of all my games on my computer.

You mean I can also just copy the NSP file to the SD card?

A tid-bit off topic but why go to 8.x at this point in time? Not criticizing, I sincerely would like to know.

I meant if you had your file from the other sd card you could copy and paste them, 8.0.0 does have some same issues you are having when it first came out, reinstall games solve the issue for me, for xci to nsp conversion use the latest 4nxci.

I've redone the sigpatches so many times from many different sources. Both overlapping (some have files missing in others) and just individually. That was my primary source I tried first and the most.

Sciresm did released a hotfix fixing issue with games giving the error game can't be started the day after he released 0.88, look like you gonna have to grab the latest kosmos pack and sig patches and do the xci to nsp if your original games source is xci.

I got this banned Switch from a friend. It was at 7.x something. I asked if it can be updated, he said "I don't know, try". I googled, it seemed safe, and updated. Only then did I begin using it, and this is my first Switch (yeah, I'm a couple years late to the party).

sdsetup doesn't grab the latest Kosmos, but the Kosmos updater gets to the latest 12.1.1. I've also tried 0.89 of Atmosphere, which has to be manually downloaded.

My original game sources are just NSPs.

Check if homebrew NSPs work
Same problem, can't launch anything from the games grid. I assume I was supposed to install it with Goldleaf.
How did you update to 8.0.1 ? ChoiNX right ? did you select exfat support ?
Just a regular system update. exFAT "works" just the same as FAT32, so I assume my friend installed that update at some point.

Yes , with choidujourNX

if for any reason your not sure you didn't use the exfat support option , I would redo that. Ive had problems just like this even using a fat32 card for some reason. Also do a full format to the SD card. use KOSMOS latest package.

Sorry I quote the wrong post, I thought you ask how to update.
