Don't forget FS patches. XCI conversions (games that leaked pre-retail from a cartridge source) are a real thing that people like.

I really, really doubt it. Copying from a PC to a USB device and attaching that USB device to the Switch to install takes more time than installing directly from a computer. It's just common sense. Has nothing to do with what CFW has what.

I agree that there is a lot of demand for XCI conversions, thats why I added XCI installation support to Tinfoil even though I think its a dumb meme.

The issue with USB is that it requires running software on the PC and the installation of hacked drivers, which is too technical for most normies.

Yeah, but XCI conversions = FS patches, not just ES.

It's not a real thing that requires effort. You run an app, you press a button in the app, you're done. It's not a process anymore.

Running the app, and installing the drivers is the issue. All of them require zadig hacked driver installation still, right?

You are correct that xci installs are FS patches, FS patches / XCI installs are somehere around #3 or #4 :) ES patches are the big ones.

The (modern) apps simply installs the drivers without any kind of user interaction, outside of the user hitting the 'install driver' button. That's it.

Not a chance. There is far more utility to more people in being able to boot games of 'any source' (including XCI conversions) than being able to add an additional step in their install process (USB HDD).

SX crashes all the time. It's just ancient Atmosphere plus DRM. But crashes aren't even the real use case of auto-inject. Any operation that requires a reboot (like a System Update or to copy stuff to mSD) now does not require a dongle. It's just nicer.

I haven't noticed any crash on my SXOS.

I don't understand how do you know about SXOS crashes if you're not an SXOS user...

And SXOS users can reboot to payload too.

I have plenty of hardcrashes on SXOS, especially when using the cheat search. Yes, now days it can do that since it uses exosphere code.

Crashes are there, regardless of your experience.

SX can reboot to payload but SX cannot auto-inject the payload upon a crash or system reboot. Not the same thing.
