It's amazing Nintendo still hasn't lifted a single finger to patch this. Great news for the 3ds scene!
Over 150,000 people have since hacked their 3ds with the *miner exploit family! (and it's likely a lot higher than that).

Wow, how far are we gone!
I can't believe nintendo enabled twl system apps importing from the SD xD I wonder if something similar exists on the Dsi settings...
Also, sorry for the stupid question,but why we need an app to export as a vector for our injection, if we are targeting an pre-installed one?

The importing of system apps of course was never meant to be possible, so I guess Ninty didn't bother with preventing system apps from being imported/exported.

The reason you need to export a dsiware is that the export contains some information that's needed to generate a dsiware export for that same console. With that, and the encryption key contained in the movable.sed, you can craft a custom dsiware export that targets a system application instead.
This exploit (importing custom dsiware) also existed on DSi until 1.4.1 or 1.4.2 (I don't remember exactly which one), then it was patched. The reason why it wasn't patched on the 3ds is simply unknown.

Yes, still unpatched. Still going strong. Over a half million seeds have been mined now, and we still average about a 1000 a day.

A lot has changed since the beginning: bruteforces take seconds (seldom over a minute), it's free, and there's a reliable automated server to do the friend code exchange and the actual GPU accelerated bruteforce. Other QOL enhancements like bannerbomb3 and Fredminer have also made the process easier.
Who knows, there may even be more enhancements in the future.
