I think i am going to keep my plain version for now but just out of curiosity is this new version much faster compeering to old? on old version my setup is mining one movable in 33.7sec on average ( fastest was 0.09sec, slowest successful took over 400 sec) do you think that LaylaBelle (1st on leaderboard) get this kind of results because of this new version?

Guys,

I just ordered a New Nintendo 3DS XL (Galaxy color from Google express). I'm yet to receive it (will receive it in about 10 days in India). I'm looking to hack it as soon as I receive it. I read a bit about the 3DS hacking scene and realized there are 2 methods - Flashcarts vs Seedminer/Frogminer. I have quite a few questions about this - please excuse for being a noob!

1) Is there any specific advantage of using the ntrboot over seedminer? (apart from the former being easy to install)
2) I read somewhere that for playing DS games ntrboot is the only way and seedminer can play only 3DS games? Is this true? What about earlier consoles like NES,SNES, GBC, GBA etc.?
3) I don't know what my console's FW would be out of the box - do I have to follow different steps based on that FW? In any case, I shouldn't update the FW normally before installing CFW, correct?
4) If I install CFW using seedminer method, can I later reinstall through ntrboot with a flashcart? How?

1) no, because the end result for both of them is the exact same. You'll end up with the same configuration (B9S + LumaCFW) no matter which you follow.
2) when you do ntrboot you use a DS flashcart, and at the end you can reflash it back and use it to play DS games. With frogminer you don't use a flashcart, but you can use TWiLightMenu++ to play DS games even without one (not all games are compatible, but most ones are). Or, if you already own a DS flashcart, you can use that for DS games
3) if you're doing ntrboot, you don't need to worry about FW version. If you're doing frogminer, you need to be on the latest firmware (11.9), but if you're on an earlier firmware you can just do a system update and proceed
4) technically yes, but there's almost no reason to uninstall CFW once you have it. Again, the end result doesn't differ between the methods, so there's no reason to reinstall CFW once you've already done it with frogminer

1) Yes flashcarts are compatible with all DS games.
2) Yes because emulators run in 3DS mode, so you only need CFW to use them

You don't need flipnote to do frogminer, it's part of frogminer but you manually inject it in your console

No you can do it even without any dsiware installed.

You don't need to have Flipnote Studio. It is injected into Download Play when using the Frogminer method. Either follow these two:
