Gaming Is it worth to buy a used DSi XL if I already had a DS Lite for years?

Sry to start a new thread after my last "Is the DSi XL region locked?" thread.

But, since I am considering to buy a used DSi XL to breath new life into my DS game collection and because of the recently released Ni No Kuni patch, I need some advice. I know it's not really a huge waste of money anyway, but since I've already got a DS Lite for many years now, would a DSi XL be a good purchase? How's the picture quality compared to the DS Lite (do DS games look more blocky or blurry due to the bigger gaps between pixels?)? Is the bigger screen such an improvement?

for me, the DSi XL is my favourite platform to play DS games on. Plus i got it cheap on ebay a few months ago (22€ shipped)

Compared to the DS Lite it just feels more comfortable for my adult hands and the screen is a lot bigger. The image seems slightly softer, though.
Compared to the 3DS XL it has a sharp picture (because it doesn't need to scale the picture to a different resolution).

EDIT: in terms of image quality/sharpness, the DSLite seems to be the best, but depending on your anatomy you might enjoy playing on a DSi XL more :)

I personally don't think so. If you want an "XL" I think your money would be better spent on a 3DS XL. But again, just my opinion. I think the screens on the DS Lite are the best for playing DS games anyways.

Well, about my DS Lite: I don't know if that is a normal issue, but the lower screen seems to be much less vibrant in terms of colors. That's why I hate it if games present the main game content on the lower screen. It has been this way since I've bought it used years ago. My theory is that the touch screen layer is the culprit. Does the DSi XL have the same issue?

I still use my DSi and it's as good as always (the R button fails once in a while but I just have to blow and press it hard) and I keep playing the same old games. If getting a 2DS isn't in your plans (it is in mine) and you can get the DSi XL cheaply then go for it, it feels much better than the Lite.

Worth noting that if you want to play the English patch for Ni No Kuni, like you said, you need that DSiXL to softmod it - unless you want to buy a flashcart.
