@Draxzelex
I'm planning to use Homebrew Checkpoint without the Nand restore and play my legit cartridge game online on OFW.
How likely do you think my Switch will be banned?
(3DS save transfer app gave me an error that even Capcom high level support couldn't fix. Planning to use 3DS to Switch Save File converter which requires Checkpoint to extract/inject)

Using only homebrew shouldn't be a problem/shouldn't require a nand restore, since nothing is written to NAND (except for saves). Tho if you inject, for example, a 100% save in a 0%/0 hour playthrough migh be bad. No one got banned for it tho.

It might change with the new online backup service tho? (and by that I mean in the bad OR good, they might not add a way of checking if the save was restored officially or not)

I meant "without Nand Restore" for using OFW without the clean Nand after extract/inject the savefile.

But anyway, you are saying is that, no one got banned for just Homebrew Checkpoint YET.

If I am not wrong, I must install CFW to access Homebrew, correct? like SX OS or Hekate?

Is this true? I've been really wanting to back up saves (and modify them to an extent, like skipping some heavy grinding in Xeno2) without being banned.

I’m not banned, still. I’m baffled. Other then not touching LayeredFS and not playing online MP games, I’ve been asking for it. I’m often too lazy to go into OFW when updating. Hell, today when I checked to see if I was banned I was in CFW since I was sure I would be. I’ve crashed homebrew about a million times thanks to trying things docked, using macOS, and exFAT. I’ve mass updated tens of XCIs and NSPs. I’ve used FTP for hours. SX OS since a few days after launch.

I keep wondering if I’m somewhat shielded by the fact that I’ve been buying games on the eShop and I keep my credit card information stored. Sounds stupid, probably is, but how am I not banned?

Because NINTENDO.

Maybe because you haven't submitted a ban report yet :smug:

I've been offline since just before the most recent 'banwave' presuming I've finally run out of luck. I decided to check yesterday just before the launch of the online service and...still not banned.

I remained baffled. Anyway, I decided it would be a decent time to keep my little test going by purchasing another couple super cheap games off the MX eShop. Nothing has changed since my quoted post except I'm up to SX OS 1.9 using stealth mode (great for pro controller use instead of airplane mode and FTP).

I wonder if signing up for their online service is more likely to get you banned...

Just updated to 6.0 and I'm getting a "2123-0314" error when attempting to update my titles. I can't find any information online about such an error code, anyone have an idea?

@Draxzelex so it turns out Nintendo requires access to "sun.hac.lp1.d4c.nintendo.net" (Update checking server) before allowing game updates or content downloads now? Kinda irritating.
Heh, now you either block them all or you have to fiddle around with the URLs. Cracking down on hackers one telemetry service at a time.

If you lose the console, have it stolen, or sell it to a friend without unlinking the Nintendo Account first, I see no reason for them to oblige with your request.
Hi @Draxzelex , how are you? I hope you can fin the time to help me out a bit ;)

I just read this on Nintendo's site.

Important:
  • Once a Nintendo Account is linked to a user account, this link cannot be undone. The associated user account must also be deleted to unlink a Nintendo Account from a Nintendo Switch console.
  • A Nintendo Account can be linked to more than one Nintendo Switch console at a time. You do not need to unlink the Nintendo Account prior to linking it to a second console.
  • Deleting a user account from a Nintendo Switch console will also delete any save data that is associated with that account and saved to the console.
  • Data deleted from a console cannot be restored unless it is first backed up using the Save Data Cloud backup feature.
  • If you wish to retain save data that is not supported using the Save Data Cloud backup feature, do not delete the associated user account.
Additional Information:
  • Unlinking a Nintendo Account from a Nintendo Switch console does not delete the Nintendo Account or any associated purchases. The Nintendo Account will still be available and can be re-linked to another user account in the future.
What to Do:

If I understand correctly, a Nintendo account is linked to a user account. So if I want to unlink my account, I will have to delete my user account and loose all my saved data?

This is what I'm considering to do, I would very much appreciate your wise words of advice and thoughts.
I currently have 1 Switch console. I own several digital purchases and a few cartridge games. I'm going to purchase a second Switch so that I may have one for playing pirated games and the other will remain virgen and all legal. The modded Switch should never go online.

Today I accidentally updated the only console I own at the moment to firmware v6.0. Since I'm going to have a new Switch, I was thinking I could use the new Switch as my legal and unmodded console and clean the old console and play unpaid games on it. Why? Well, I would have a new full year warranty.
  1. Before purchasing the new Switch I have to look up the serial number to make sure it can be modded.
  2. On firmware v6.0 would I be able to fully transfer my user data to the new Switch without loosing any saved games? For the moment, I will not be paying for Nintendo Online.
  3. Does performing a factory reset delete absolutely everything on the console? I wouldn't want any of my current user or Nintendo account data still existing, just in case I ever get banned, I prefer that the console gets banned without affecting my Nintendo Account and purchases

Question related to performing a factory reset on a modded Switch, with Auto RCM, XCI and NSP games: Does the factory reset delete all traces of the mod? Lets say that I've been playing a few month on the modded Switch (never gone online) and I would like to use it legally for some time, would it be enough to just factory reset everything?

Well, I think thats it hahaha. I hope you can have the time to answer back.

Take care.

Maybe. Nintendo cracking down on hacking even harder now.

That what I heard and I was dread about get super ban for homebrew apps only like save backup.

It make me think that Nintendo is much worse than Sony now, so get a ban from use other's saves on PS4 are incredibly rare to nonexistent, so save hacking may get a ban in game only if used for online, however most online saves are stored in server.
