Wii U USB Helper 0.6.1.653

156 is old, and not even is the launcher's compatibility list.

I used the first reddit link I found on google.
note : I did NOT use and launched the host.json executable. I edited the hosts file manually.

reddit title: DOWNLOAD AND RUN WII U USB HELPER AFTER ITS DISCONTINUATION
it has links to that version, a link to a compatibility list with old versions (no 156 listed)

or maybe you have "656" ? I've read 654 and 655 were released to counter usage of 653. be sure it's 653 you are using, or the "recommended version".

reddit FAQ :

maybe try that "clear install" option.
i got it working , i have not used it in ages
i was trying out this new injection tool feature but i keep on getting this error
wiiu_injection_error.png

any ideas what might be causing it?

the second time i ran it it looked like it was almost finished , it crasher sooner the 1st time
i am using a .GCM file not ISO

I don't think so, the Wii U games we installed where pretty much eshop copies with a LEGIT ticket dumped from a original game... so all of them are legal games xD

weatmod, read the error message :
"the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process".
it seems it tried to delete the file and the folder.

Try doing it again, maybe the program tried to delete it too fast, and it was still being downloaded, or verified?
I don't know, the error is an idea of the problem.

I figured how to get it to work. look up the issue on google/reddit. the host part is correct, but something seems to go wrong with previous installs.

Well it work...you have to erase all previous installation ; in app data local and roaming and in the program directory and then apply the tutorial
[WORKAROUND] DOWNLOAD AND RUN WII U USB HELPER AFTER ITS DISCONTINUATION

yeah, I had found a way to retain usb helper by backing up the hikari06 folder in roaming and USB_HELPER folder in local. it doesn't work without both folders. it doesn't work now though, so I have to use the work around method.

btw, I found this out earlier - don't use the updater to launch usb helper. it will force you to do the process again. use that launcher .exe instead. I wanted to see what would happen, and that's what happened. ;)

yeah you need to delete the old install and start over from the reddit thread links
this is where i went wrong at 1st too

thanks i tried it 3 times already
no luck yet , i deleted an old install folder for usb helper and still no luck it seems to crash at 99% or right after
for some reason , i thought it might be in use by windows or a malware scanner i stopped everything but it still does it
i wonder if the issue is for GCM and if ISO would work better but i don't have any to try it out

WiiU is REALLY dead to nintendo, they confirmed the fact that nothing will be out from them on it, based on this you can say that they don't care at all, when the 3DS is still the min handled console from nintendo and still sale pretty great.

I just tried to do it, and it works fine.

I took USBhelper last version (not the recommended one) from reddit
I took launcher from github (current version is v0.10)
extracted both in the same folder
I replaced IP in the hosts file (no need to copy to desktop .... and if you just copy to desktop there's no effect, you need to do it or replace the original file)
launched the launcher (firewall asked to allow launcher.exe and patched.exe to act as server on my computer). I agreed, to get the proxy to redirect files from old website to the one on your computer.
inserted the ticket website url when asked, it retrieved all the games from these urls without problem.
I tried getting a WiiU game and a 3DS game, both worked.

The launcher.exe and patched.exe randomly tries to access websites (old server's IP (104.31.8x.179) I just don't allow it, akamai is probably nintendo's CDN, but also other websites.... I don't give my entire trust to it and block access to these IP)
It was only a test because people had issues above, but it works fine.
may I ask what program you use to restrict individual ip access to programs?

windows firewall.
it might not feel reliable, but it's very good.

First, restrict all outgoing connections (for security reason, it should be like that by default, but for noob reason microsoft allows all outgoing by default so people don't have to worry about anything), then allow only the program you want to access internet.
I made rules to allow patched.exe to connect to nintendo's cdn. doing that should be enough to restrict all other ip.
but I have a task manager which triggers a prompt when a connection is initiated without a firewall rule (easier to know when a new program or a suspicious one tries to access or send data over the net), so to prevent more prompts on each tries I added a rule to block the old site's ip.

to make that easier, I installed Windows Firewall Notifier (it created the task manager event and displays prompts to generate firewall rules on the fly), but you can do everything manually.

I think he was talking about the "without launcher" workaround (which I would prefer seeing as the launcher tunnels all your browser traffic through Fiddler... I don't trust that for one second)
But the "without launcher" workaround depends on the files still existing on the USB Helper servers, I guess he took them down.
Actually the title key site isn't gone, it's just improperly placed. Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
Open hosts file (you need to copy to desktop to open it)
If you noticed the format it's ip and site name. (open with notepad++ or just notepad, recommend ++ though)
Since I cannot talk about that title key site. I'll leave you to fill in the blanks. both use the same ip btw.
NEJ NEJ NEJ! consolenamehere.Forbiddenamehere.pf (the .pf is not the correct one. use your head)
AJBAJA! handheldnamehere.Forbiddenamehere.pf
after doing so it should work. It's a screw up in the dns. Not much you can do about the dns incorrectly placing things. Also don't add a # or else it won't count.
DNS doesn't screw up. He simply forgot to renew the domain (yet again)
Now Nintendo have implemented the new ticket checks onto the 3DS eShop who else thinks it's only a matter of time before it gets implemented into Wii U as well?

I will be incredibly surprised if we don't get Wii U 5.6 by the end of 2018 killing off Wii USB Helper (and the other similar apps).

Get your content downloaded and backed up now everyone.
I honestly doubt it, I think they are too busy pretending the Wii U never existed and trying to purge it from their memories. The 3DS still matters, because lots of people haven't gotten a Switch yet, and 2DS/3DS is a much cheaper option. But barely anyone's gonna buy a Wii U at this point and even the ones that have one have moved on.
Also, Nintendo historically always makes the least effort possible to make life hard for pirates. Their boardroom meetings must go something like this: "How can we keep the investors happy while spending the least time/money possible?"

yeah, I tried without the launcher (just give the version as argument with a .bat : usbhelper.exe 0.6.xxx), it launched but fails to load because of missing files on the server.
the user who created the launcher said he tried using hosts file to redirect the server to localhost (with your own server providing these files). he said it worked but wasn't easy for everyone because other apps might already use port80 (but you can use another server instead of your own computer). it would be cleaner. I don't know if it's really enough, then why all the additional patcher and proxy and dll, etc.

the needed files are in the launcher package, data folder for anyone who want to try. I didn't try yet, I just tested the launcher as users said they had issues, I'd feel safer without it.

There's like, maybe two games worth playing online on the WiiU to most people. Those are Super Mario Maker, and Smash 4.
Now, don't get me wrong, I bought a wii u like a month ago and absolutely fucking love it, but let's not kid ourselves here; there's not a massive market for the WiiU, nor is there much interest in homebrew and piracy. Devs abandoned it, Nintendo abandoned it, and most important of all, most homebrew devs have abandoned it. The market for a WiiU nowadays is like, five people tops, myself included, versus the 3DS that's got plenty of people still after it for it's solid library that's still getting games.

In short, I don't think they will, because why would they? May as well just port it to the Wii while they're at it. Hell, most people who're into piracy already have updates and stuff like this disabled with ways around them (haxchi, for example) so it's not like they'd be doing anything. They'd make an update that'd affect an extremely small number of people for a platform they're literally not making money off of anyways. It's just not worth the money, time, effort, or anything else.

MOD: No linking to titlekey sites, that includes IPs. So I changed them to two root DNSes
thanks i got it working for wiiu but what about 3ds? does it still work?
i do not understand what you mean by this

4.2.2.1 consolenamehere.Forbiddenamehere.pf (the .pf is not the correct one. use your head)
4.2.2.2 handheldnamehere.Forbiddenamehere.pf

the IP for wii u is xxx.xxx.xx.137
so i put the same one for 3ds or do i put it as xxx.xxx.xx.138 ?
