Curious about the banning of Switches.

First off! I never created a Nintendo account for my Switch and I'm still able to update .xci files along with being able to view tutorial videos when I'm in OFW without TX OS Pro installed. I basically been using TX OS Pro from the day I got it and I'm also using three separate Micro SD Cards on my Switch.

1st. SD Card for .xci Game Files "When I install any .xci file via PC to the SD Card for the first time I go ahead and enable WiFi to do a game update on OFW before I open or play the game. Then once completed I enable Airplane Mode once again".

2nd. SD Card For HomeBrew "The Switch stays in Airplane Mode all the time. I always download emulators with a PC then I manually install the emulators to the SD Card by using a PC".

3rd. SD Card for .nsp Game Files "When I install any .nsp file via PC to the SD Card for the first time I go ahead and enable WiFi to do a game update on OFW before I open or play the game. Then once completed I enable Airplane Mode once again".
I only downloaded and installed 2 games in .nsp format via PC to the SD Card and was able to update 1 game with the Switch and the 2nd game didn't require an update.

As far as newly first time installed .xci game files I'm still able to update them with no issues what so ever. Once I play any .xci game I never attempt to update it again...

I know there are post about consoles being banned just by one single .nsp or .xci files being updated. But for what I hear! It's usually the big ban if messing around with .nsp files.

I won't be doing anymore .nsp file updates via OFW! Maybe in the near future when things better improve. I'll just Google .nsp updates and I'll manually install them myself so I remain on Airplane Mode at all times.

Since I never created an account on my Switch and I'm still able to confirm my OFW v5.1.0 along with being able to connect to WiFi while being in OFW. I really don't know if my console is still alive from any sort of ban wave.

Since I'm not planning to create a Nintendo account anytime soon! I guess the only way I'll know if my Switch ever got banned is if it were to get hit with the big ban. Then I'll know for sure that my console has been completely banned...

PS
Even though I never setup an account on my console! I'm sure Nintendon't keeps some sort of history on their servers that contain every consoles keys and S/N. In the event a ban were to come my way? Then be it! As long as is not the big ban...

Firstly, I'm aware of the apparent high risk of ban due to installing .nsp in view of the users reports, however I wonder the following...

Trimmed .XCI? Y
.....

Installed any .NSP? Y
.....
Backups updated? OFW

.....

Updated
Hi, Did you update only the .xci backups or did you also update the .nsp?

Installed any .NSP? Y
Backups updated? CFW
Hi, You mean you updated .nsp or only .xci?

I asked this question before on a different thread and also in private to a couple of pretty smart people but still don't have a straight answer

Here goes... Perhaps 2 weeks back I unlinked my account from the Switch because I read stories about people being unable to remove accounts once they received a ban....

With an unlinked account you can't access the eShop to check without linking again

So how will I possibly know if I've been banned or not unless I once again link an account ?

I'd probably suggest just creating a new account just for this. That way, you'd still be able to check whether or not you have been banned, without sacrificing your main account.
That's what I did, anyways.

and were you banned ?
To be honest with you, I actually haven't checked. I unlinked my account and created a new one before I started messing with it. I'm scared that checking if I'm banned will just get me banned, ya know? Because of everything I've done on this thing already. If you really want to know, and if you have a NAND backup from before you ran any homebrew, I guess you could restore that backup and then go online and check.

I do know I'm not CDN blocked though, I can still download game updates on my Switch (I am DNS blocking everything except the game update servers).

You can't check if you were banned from dauth (normal console ban) without an account. An atum ban (superban) is easy to spot because it doesn't require an account and there are multiple offline ways of checking. All requests through dauth require a valid Nintendo Account which include the eShop from your console as well as online multiplayer.

With that in mind, simply install a game which I know requires an update and try to update through wifi, should tell me if I'm super banned or not

I've been checking religiously despite straight up being a lazy bastard the last couple weeks: updating games in CFW, using FTP to transfer files, and now installing .nsp apps (no idea if that's riskier than .xci but...). No devmenu or layered FS (don't really even know what they are) but the one thing I've been really good about since day one of SX OS is not actually booting a game while online. No idea if that's any different than updating, but just something I've been refraining to do.

Still not banned. KInda want to just get it over with :grog:

EDIT: Also, I've changed regions on my account a couple times (US/Mexico/JPN). I like to think I'm on the lamb and it makes them harder to catch and ban me :D

Since day one, eh? That's a bit over a month, isn't it? Incredible.
I think people have been saying that NSPs are risker than XCIs because Nintendo can tell whether or not you actually own the digital game or not, while an XCI is just a cart.

But definitely do keep us updated. I'll probably still wait a bit before checking if I'm banned or not.

If you are trying to stay off the grid for as long as possible, yes. But I wouldn't recommend connecting online after installing updates offline, at least not without restoring a hack-free NAND.

Been using SX OS since 13/7/2018. Update xci games in non-trimmed form through OFW, after that switch to trimmed version to save some space. Always delete internet settings and enable airplane mode before boot into SX OS. Using second account to play all XCI games.
