Hi there guys
I have an old 3ds xl had it since 2014
Today this morning i had a problem that made my 3ds give an arm9 error when launching the titles menu through fbi and the software menu in data managemenr in system settings.
I formatted my 3ds and solved the problem fortuntely enough
I ran into another one.
I'm not sure if was related to the first one or that i formatted my 3ds while on cfw
When i push up the 3d slider and push it back down it does not turn off the 3d efexr unless i restart the console or launch a ds title
Its weird also my bottom sceeen is sloghtly brighter than the top screen and lools foggy
I don't know if i had the 3d problem before i formatted my 3ds. Heck i rarely turn the 3d effect on.
Why do i have to restard the 3ds for the 3d effect to be turned off after i push the 3d slider down
And why does my bottom screen look slightly brighter and foggy

I did not drop my 3ds nor did it come in contact with any liquid

  1. Back up your game saves with Checkpoint and JKSM. Set these aside as you may need to reinstall games depending what happens.
  2. Through GodMode9, make a SysNAND (or EmuNAND) backup of your current 3DS setup.
  3. In case you ever made a NAND image *.bin prior to the 3D effect and lower dim screen issues, try a SysNAND restore (safe).
  4. If you didn't dump that NAND when the 3DS was fully functioning, do a CTRtransfer instead.
(A) In case you fix your problems through (an older) SysNAND restore or CTRtransfer
5a. After examining your 3DS and it works as intended, restore your (newer) SysNAND. If the problems appears again on your current setup, drop back down to the older NAND or CTRtransfer, update the open firmware, reinstall games, and restore the game saves.

(B) In case the problems persist

5b. You may need to replace your flex cable that houses the 3D slider switch as the potentiometer (or variable resistor) has gone bad. As for the lower screen being darker than the top, check if the brightness difference is due to IPS vs TN panels. If that lower screen appears to be of the same panel design as the top but still seem unreasonably too dark or foggy, elect replacing it with a new LCD.

I'm currently making a nand back
I don't have a prior mand backup but i will do the ctr transfer
If i install games on my 11.7 sysnand will i lose them during the ctrtransfer?
Is it better to do a 11.5 or 9.2 ctrtransfer?

Do the 11.5 CTRtransfer as it's newer and closer if not essentially the same as 11.7 minus the included GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) update.

You're doing CTRtransfer to determine whether your issue is software or hardware based.

***

If CTRtransfer is anything like SysNAND restore, your games will still be on the SD card but won't show up on HOME Menu. Your 3DS might partially recognize the titles with crossed out X's in the System Settings > Data Management > Nintendo 3DS (& DSiWare) > Software section.

The X's means their tickets are missing. Games found on Nintendo eShop and freeShop are restore-able with TIKdevil and tikSweep for their tickets.

Those with tickets that can't be restored with the two TIK combo were (1) originally sourced as *.3ds and converted into *.cia -or- (2) custom made Virtual Console injections. These will need fresh installed copies with already backed up ROMs. You may retrieved these at that iso site (or other sites like it) or install the freeShop equivalent [same games but not the same tickets].

Another method is to TMD search in GodMode9, rebuild those into CIAs, and then reinstall them (very loopy method in these hard to restore tickets especially for VC injections).

If you restore to reinstalling games, your save progress will be reset and lost. The Checkpoint and/or JKSM saves+extdata are there in case this happens.
