'Battlefield V' Gets A Release Date And Reveal Trailer

The next installment in the Battlefield series, Battlefield V, will take place in World War II. During a livestream today, DICE said that the game will tell “real stories about men and women who changed history” during that period.

Battlefield V will consist of a single-player campaign following different stories set during World War II, a co-op mode and a new "Grand Operations" multiplayer mode. DICE said that the latter will be showcased during EA’s E3 press conference at EA Play in Los Angeles.

A reveal trailer and a release date were even made public today:

Battlefield V launches worldwide on October 19th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Pre-orders are now open for Open Beta early access.

How did I miss that?

Maybe the devs got jealous at all the fun the GTA franchise, resident evil, xbox and all the rest were having treating numbers as a mild suggestion.

Equally they seemed to sell it on World War 1 being where modern war began, which is a popular, if tricky*, notion and thus the name would play. Worked well enough for me.

*1 the US civil war had some interesting aspects, but the US was an isolated backwater at the time, and even a lot of the Napoleonic and Prussian stuff showcased some things to come.

That is actually why I could get into it more than the hyper frenetic things. Though get a full server on hardcore in 4 and you have to keep your wits about you.

As for "copied" I tend to take a longer view of trends/fads and might actually still be bored with world war 2 ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_World_War_II_video_games ).
but like i said its preety damn wierd they called it 5 or V or whatever when it should have been the 6 game lol, so they are gonna pretend battlefield 1 never existed? one of the better ones?

Also while there are alot of ww2 games they are all preety old, up until ps2,xbox era wwII fps were alot and then during ps3 era they were very very rare and until COD WWII i dont think there was even a wwII fps for like 7 years.

There were a few on the indy side of things. The old medal of honor and early call of duty games really did serve to stagnate things though.

I don't see a problem with the numbering though and can continue to write off one as play on words or something like that.

Jaysus, they could have at least tried to be a little historically accurate, and just showed off the Soviets first, if they wanted women in the trailer so bad.
I mean, there were plenty of instances of women fighting on the Allied front, too, and how many World War 2 games are out there? I don't have a problem with them showing smaller platoons, it's good for them to break from what every other World War 2 game shows. But legit some guy jumps through a window, clocks someone behind him as tanks tear through a house, gets dragged onto an ATV playing jukebox music driving through a field with planes falling like snow. I'm sorry, what? "Realistic" my ass.

I thought after the ridiculous amount of black people in the last BF (the setting was WW1 in Europe) it's established that this series isn't about historic accuracy in any way .

The thing that irked me the most that France of all countries was DLC. I guess France isn't important enough to make it into the base game of a WW1 game. I mean, nothing important happened with France in WW1, right? :P

It's raining planes, Aleluia, its raining planes, EA doesn't care.

Battlefield V, coming soon to you COD kids, and if the trailer is not arcade enough, buy the arcade DLC coming soon with flying magic tanks and featuring Hitler Nazi zombie + you also get flying houses and a billion fake awesome explosions everywhere, BUY NOW FOR ONLY OVER A 100€.

Oh and don't forget to buy the oversaturated colours DLC to make WWII look warm anime like and it's like eating magic mushrooms everything looks so much better.......(NOT).
