Nintendo has put out a financial report of their company during an investors meeting, where multiple things were discussed and revealed. One of which being the shocking statement that Nintendo would be changing company presidents. Other big announcements were made, such as the fact that Nintendo of Europe president Satoru Shibata would be stepping down from NOE, and would be moving to the Japan branch as part of the company's board of directors. His replacement has not been named at this time.

Financially, Nintendo made massive profits this year, noting that the Nintendo Switch has sold over 17 million units as of March 2018, and maintaining that the Nintendo 3DS, though at the end of its lifespan, is still making strong sales thanks to the recent Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon titles. Super Mario Odyssey also reached 10.41 million sales, making it the number one selling game on the system. Total software sales for games on the Switch reached 63.51 million, while the 3DS sold 6.40 million systems, and total software was 35.51 million.

Other ventures proved successful as well. The Super Nintendo Classic also surpassed expectations, selling well in every region it released in, and now sits at 5.28 million sold. amiibo figure and card sales increased compared to 2016, as well.

In terms of the mobile market, Nintendo did massively well, with games like Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp all made large profits. Nintendo's earnings for mobile games was 39.3 billion yen, a 62% increase from last year.

The company's plans for the rest of 2018 and early 2019 are to continue focusing on releasing new games for the Switch, still supporting the 3DS as it has a large install base, and refining their mobile titles, as well as releasing more IPs for that market.

Interesting stuff is happening in the world right now. Can't wait for more to come...

maybe that new president will save paper mario
I think that should be left to Koizumi. If it weren't for him, Super Mario Odyssey wouldn't be such a massive hit.

Nearly 18 million units sold? What's the Xbone currently at, 35 million? If Nintendo keeps this up, they'll reach the Xbone's current sales (a little over 4 years on the market) in a little over 2 years being on the market.

Wtf are you talking about? They made so many SNES Classics that even scalpers had to start pricing them reasonably. Just look on eBay. Original SNES control decks cost more.
I said NES shitshow, not the SNES... And the fact that they still claim that the SNES Classic surpased their expectations.

You see, everyone who were even remotely considering on buying a SNES classic had FOMO after what the NES shitshow turned out to be.

Of course Nintendo then created a shit-ton of SNES classics, they made enough to supply both scalpers and end users at the same time. They KNEW they were going to sell millions. If SNES classics somehow "surpassed their expectations" how come they mass produced millions of them? Enough to fill scalper/user demand...

That's what is shameful about instilling FOMO in your consumers.

Was it really FOMO, or are there simply more fans of SNES games than NES games? I'd bet on the latter. Games were still really raw during the NES years, and outside of the notable first-party titles, they'd range from being unfair to being designed poorly.

Dude, major store retailers like Target, Best Buy and Gamestop were literally getting shipments of only 6 units as allocation... All the stores runned out within an hour of opening... People had to line up for hours to get one (and in some cases only 6-12 of these costumers got one)... The ones who didnt get one, had to pay hundreds of dollars on ebay to get a hold of one from scalpers...

How can you swriously tell me that such low production from Nintendo was because there were not fans of NES games :glare:

Oh I think NES Classic would've sold more with more inventory, but I still don't think it would've been as popular as SNES Classic, and I'm 100% sure Nintendo wasn't counting on such massive sales for NES Classic.

I find companies like Nintendo really interesting. On the one hand they are creative, experimental even bizarre and the next moment incredibly stupid or just plain blind. Only to do something brilliant the next moment followed by something 'awful' and totally money grabbing..

I often think they don't really know what they are up to. Or what each other (person, department) are up to. Over a long period of time they have been incredibly successful though - in terms of smiles and yen!

N64 Mini wouldn't be anything special without third party games.
you got two zelda games, 3 mario partys, mario kart, mario tennis, mario golf,wave race,mario 64,dk64,diddy kong racing,paper mario,ssb,sin and punishment,pokemon snap,1080 snowboarding,kirby 64,yoshi story,star fox.

this 1st party games alone would be amazing then they can ask for some third partys not named microsoft becuase of rare replay
turok 1-3 rage wars
bomberman games
star wars games

without using rare games they still have alot of amazing contenders imo, and for rare games just get rare replay :P
