Shin Megami Tensei V for Switch officially announced

Atlus has officially announced that it’s next Shin Megami Tensei game, which was first announced for Switch in January, is called Shin Megami Tensei V.

A Description via Atlus:
"Modern day Japan. High school students in uniform walking across the station. Corpses of demons who were slaughtered in the Tokyo tunnels. High school students surrounded by demons in the Tokyo wasteland. What is the meaning of the mysterious words “Shekinah Glory” and “Daath” which appear in the video?"

Yush. Funny that those two characters m i l d l y resemble Itsuki and Tsubasa. Either way, glad another big title is being confirmed and launched. Also good we get a darker soundtrack.

Had to do a little digging, but "Shekinah Clory" and "Daath" make me wonder if we'll be battling YHWH again?

The game did what most would expect and that is use the demon models from P5 which is cool!

This game honestly looks like P5 but without the color and ALOT darker.

So in the trailer we see that dude with the Blue and White top walking with that chick in the train station and then later he gets jumped and eaten(presumably) by 5-6 demons.

Edit: Just realized that the chick with the backpack gets eaten by him too!

Also that sword stuck in that demon looks awesome! It gave me Zelda vibes.

Man, i am so hyped! for SMT V since i knew this game was gonna be either SMT V or SMT 3 HD Remake. And yep its SMT V everybody! this is the sole reason i got my switch.

The other questions are, why do those words show up at that point in the video? Does that mean the dwelling of YHWH is underground and the dead demons were killed by angels? Well that was an interesting read, thanks. Oh and regarding your last point on Daath, well yeah that could make sense if the demons attack both the guy and girl and then one of them awaken and perhaps the other awakens later on. Oh and i personally assumed that those dead demons in the tunnel were killed by the MC later in the game. That sword threw me off though... but i guess we wont now more until later this week during the new Famitsu issue interview.

I love how they diddnt give us too much,but at the same time that could mean that the game wont hit the WEST until 2019

I love Atlus but i wish one day they get to the point where they can release both Japanese and English releases simultaneously.

As for localization, I think things might start getting better:

I personally enjoyed the P4 and P3 spinoffs and am hyped for P5D/P3D & PQ2. But yeah having atlus games release at the same time would be awesome but i dont see that happening on the scale of FF XV until 202?.

Not that SMTIV wasn't great, but it's nice to see the series coming back to console
