Was curious if I can get some clarification on a few points.
I currently have a New 3DS XL, on version 11.6. I have no other 3DS family of devices of any sort. I also have a old NDS flash cart, the WiFi R4i V1.4.4 with latest files installed on it. It works just fine on my old DS.
Reading the guide link that gets posted, it seems I either need a compatible Flash Cart (mine isn't obviously), or a second 3DS that already had the mod on it, to install anything on my current one.
With all of this information, my questions are:
1) To install on my New 3DS with ntrboot method, after installing it will my old R4i be usable on my New 3DS? If not, what is the best cart that is compatible with ntrboot that I can also put all of my DS titles from my current R4i onto. And to run a flashcart after installing ntrboot (either a new one, or the old one), is there any other programs neccessary to install after ntrboot, or at that point can I just put the flashcart in the cartridge slot and it work with no issue? And will it override boot menu (like the R4i does on DS) or is it launchable from the Home Screen (allowing me to still access my normal 3DS games).
2) After installing ntrboot via a flashcart (and having either that flashcart, or my old flashcart capable of playing my DS titles), should I avoid ever updating the 3DS, or is updating safe?
3) Is accessing the eShop safe? Mostly I want to softmod my 3DS just to play my DS titles, either through the old R4i or a new card. While homebrewing is a nice addition, and 3DS titles on a card would be nice a few years down the line, I only really want to access my DS titles on the substantially larger screened 3DS. That, and all the games I've bought are downloaded via eShop, so there's absolutely nothing occupying the Cartridge slot on the 3DS.
4) Lastly, is it safe to keep using my NNID after installing ntrboot (and any other mods neccessary to get a Flashcart operational), or should I use a new account? The NNID in question is used by both my 3DS and Wii U, both currently unmodded.
