What do you mean about copying arm9loaderhax.bin? Were you trying to solve a black screen issue or did it just start? What's the whole history of your query?
first sir i ask u about updating luma v6.3 and sys 11.2 to latest firmware then u told me to update first luma to v7.0.5 . copy and replace the arm9loaderhax.bin , i follow the instructions but when i turn on my 3ds everything went jet black .

What happens if you hold Select on boot? Hold it before pressing power and continue holding it as the 3DS turns on.

So I successfully updated to b9s and Luma. My question is what folders and files I don’t need now?

Just got an old 2DS. It's brand new out of the box, never has been used. I want to use FreeShop. Before installing the actual cfw using the 3ds.guide steps, is there anything that i have to do(like creating a nintendo id or anything, idk)? Also, after installing the actual CFW+Freeshop, is there anything else to be done(like updating them)? Thank you very much!

Nothing comes to mind. The guide covers pretty much everything. To install freeshop follow the guide on the first post of this thread.

I just got my SNES N3DS XL and am ready to hack it with ntrboot, which is the easy part.

After that, I want to system transfer my existing b9s N3DS XL to it.
My already hacked 3DS has my NNID, legit purchases, CIA installed cart dumps and homebrew, the latter of which will show up as not-installed.

What do I need to do to restore the tickets and make software usable again after the system transfer?

So I have a Nintendo 3DS XL and a New Nintendo 3DS XL, both running CFW now.

I am considering selling my 3DS XL. If I do, however, I want to format the SD card to remove personal files, but I also want to keep it running CFW so that I can use that as a selling point.

What is the safe method for doing this?

Make sure boot.firm is on the CTR-NAND (it will be if you followed the whole guide), do a system format, then delete everything from the SD. You can set it up as new and install the homebrew programs again if you want (otherwise not much upside for the buyer).

How? Can you elaborate on that?
I already knew it's possible to backup the tickets before transferring.
You can use Decrypt9. Go to SysNAND options, File dump, Dump tickets.db... Do the reverse to restore it.

You can also use Godmode9.
  • Mount ticket.db files and dump tickets: Mount the file via the A button menu. Tickets are sorted into eshop (stuff from eshop, probably legit), system (system tickets, probably legit) and unknown (everything else, never legit) categories.

Thanks, if only I had the patience to have done this, in the end I used tikShop to restore the tickets for most of my installed games.
I can likely do this to fix the remaining titles provided I did not misplace my ticket.db file.

Was curious if I can get some clarification on a few points.

I currently have a New 3DS XL, on version 11.6. I have no other 3DS family of devices of any sort. I also have a old NDS flash cart, the WiFi R4i V1.4.4 with latest files installed on it. It works just fine on my old DS.

Reading the guide link that gets posted, it seems I either need a compatible Flash Cart (mine isn't obviously), or a second 3DS that already had the mod on it, to install anything on my current one.

With all of this information, my questions are:

1) To install on my New 3DS with ntrboot method, after installing it will my old R4i be usable on my New 3DS? If not, what is the best cart that is compatible with ntrboot that I can also put all of my DS titles from my current R4i onto. And to run a flashcart after installing ntrboot (either a new one, or the old one), is there any other programs neccessary to install after ntrboot, or at that point can I just put the flashcart in the cartridge slot and it work with no issue? And will it override boot menu (like the R4i does on DS) or is it launchable from the Home Screen (allowing me to still access my normal 3DS games).

2) After installing ntrboot via a flashcart (and having either that flashcart, or my old flashcart capable of playing my DS titles), should I avoid ever updating the 3DS, or is updating safe?

3) Is accessing the eShop safe? Mostly I want to softmod my 3DS just to play my DS titles, either through the old R4i or a new card. While homebrewing is a nice addition, and 3DS titles on a card would be nice a few years down the line, I only really want to access my DS titles on the substantially larger screened 3DS. That, and all the games I've bought are downloaded via eShop, so there's absolutely nothing occupying the Cartridge slot on the 3DS.

4) Lastly, is it safe to keep using my NNID after installing ntrboot (and any other mods neccessary to get a Flashcart operational), or should I use a new account? The NNID in question is used by both my 3DS and Wii U, both currently unmodded.

1. It should be, but you can use the ntrboot cart afterwards for DS games as well
2. Updating will be safe, but check forums first in case an update to Luma is recommended
3. Yes
