Do a ctrtransfer to 9.2 and update from there

I tried that earlier and it still doing it. It happens after 30 or so minutes of the screens being closed. When i re-open the n3ds the screens stay off and the blue light fades in and out while the wireless light stays steady.

Hi, I guess this has been asked before. But this thread alone is so massive, so I am sorry for asking. Can you play pokemon sun and moon online? I heard about the bans and such and I haven't used the online at all because of that. I am running Luma on an Old 3DS. Thanks.

No, you'll need JKSM for that.

Okay, so I looked up JKSM and found it but I'm little confused on what version I should be using. The one linked in the thread about it is six months old and then I look at the github and that one is three months old but again, not referenced in the thread. I'm just uncertain and I don't want to do it wrong. Is there a newer version or...?

Use the newest one from GitHub. It hasn't had updates on a long time (it does its job so well and simply it doesn't really have scope for much improvement to warrant updates)

Thanks!

The normal way is to save .cia on the internal mircoSD an install the games via FBI on the internal memory?
Without a flash card 3DS games must have installed internally - correct?
That's right. But it's more common to use freeShop to install games now (cia files only for ones not available on freeShop).

You got your answer but to expand on this a bit:

No one has ever been banned for playing games online on a CFW, pirated or not provided they are in CIA format and:

- Are not modded roms*
- Are not unreleased games

And possibly are not out of region games. (There's some debate whether playing an US rom online when your console is an EU will or won't get you banned).

The reason you've heard about people getting banned on SuMo are because people are stupid, and went online with a leaked copy of the game before the game was even released. Not difficult for Nintendo to do 1+1 and ban everyone who's online because really - there shouldn't be anyone but reviewers of the game playing online who got the pre-release copy. Just make sure that the game you've downloaded is not that said pre-release copy .. From what I've read it's not recommended to use that leaked copy even now despite the game being out and all.

To sum it up: You can go online with all non-modded, released games if they are in the .CIA format. As far as Nintendo is concerned, a CIA file installed on your system is identical to the said game downloaded from their eShop, so they cannot differentiate between a legit player and a pirate. Well, they could because they can see you haven't bought the game but so far Nintendo has not started doing this. I find it unlikely that they will either.

*
Also there's some debate whether a modded game can get you banned if the mods are only visual or audiovisual changes, such as undubs. I personally don't want to take the risk though.

Thanks for the explanation, that makes so much sense. Well I downloaded the game from the Free Shop so I am assuming I am on the safe side. Once again, thanks for the explanation.

What is the actual purpose of the aeskeydb.bin file when you already have A9LH and Luma?
It's the only file left in my files9 folder and I wonder if it is still necessary or just used during A9LH installation.

I found some description on GodMode's github
aeskeydb.bin: This should contain 0x25keyX, 0x18keyX and 0x1BkeyX to enable decryption of 7x / Secure3 / Secure4 encrypted NCCH files and 0x11key95 / 0x11key96 for FIRM decrypt support. As an alternative (not recommended), legacy slot0x??key?.bin files are also supported. It can be created from your existing slot0x??key?.binfiles in Decrypt9 via the 'Build Key Database' feature.
but I don't really understand much except that it decrypts something... :/

Thanks, I deleted it (and the empty files9 folder). Now my SD looks nice and clean! Yay :D

After a bit of testing I noticed one little difference during the Hourglass9 boot process though.

With the file:
0x03 KeyX & KeyY: automatically set up
0x05 KeyY: automatically set up
0x25 KeyX: loaded, verified, set up
0x18 KeyX: already set up
0x1B KeyX: loaded, verified, set up
0x24 KeyY: automatically set up

Without the file:
0x03 KeyX & KeyY: automatically set up
0x05 KeyY: automatically set up
0x25 KeyX: not found
0x18 KeyX: already set up
0x1B KeyX: not found
0x24 KeyY: automatically set up

What are those keys used for?
