On Gateway this used to work before the update. Now, not only does it report not finding a save file with SM but it also doesn't work with gen 6 games anymore.

I'm on 11.2 with Gateway and I get the 'no savefile has been found' also. :(
Does anyone have a fix for this?

I can also confirm that it simply does not work on Gateway EmuNand at all. Neither does PokéTransporter with Blue version.

CFW is why nothing is working on your 3DS in the first place. That's what you get for playing game illegally.
Actually he doesn't have CFW. Users have reported being able to get it to work by using CFW. And just by using CFW doesn't mean you got the game illegally.

It likely doesn't work because he's not on the latest firmware version.

Will someone please release a patch that will fix this!?

Or should I just suck it up and get CFW?
I would say get CFW. You don't lose anything by doing so, you only gain additional functionality. It'll also allow you to permanently maintain access to your homebrew apps, without the risk of losing access due to an update by Nintendo. Ultimately, it's up to you though.

I tried Soundhax and it doesn't crash my N3DS to where I need to hard reset it. Instead, it just returns me to the home menu, with the message "An error has occurred", is that normal, or is it supposed to crash? Also, I'm using the same "boot.3dsx" I use for the SmileBASIC exploit. Do I need to use the starter one, instead? So the Pokemon Bank app fails to read my save data because I'm not on the latest firmware?

I'm going to guess that maybe you're missing a file, maybe the otherapp payload required to run Soundhax? Just follow these instructions carefully, I did it too after I saw this thread yesterday and I was able to access Bank normally afterwards though it took a little bit of time. I was on 11.0.0.33 on N3DS before I installed Luma and honestly, I don't regret it.
And that seems to be the case as of right now, Gamefreak must have found a workaround to ctr-httpwn. Guess they're getting serious, what with everything that has happened these past couple days.

The boot.3dsx you're using should work, but if you want to make sure you have the latest homebrew launcher, then get the one from the starter kit.

The crash won't necessarily freeze the 3DS. As @WinterStar said, make sure you have the correct otherapp payload on the root of your SD card. You need it and the boot.3dsx file for soundhax to work.

I'm speculating that it doesn't work due to not being on the latest firmware, but I don't know for sure. I don't have a 3DS that's not on the latest firmware to test that theory.

Hmmm... I have heard of this problem through here and other forums. Probably the easiest thing to do, is to contact Nintendo and they will fix the problem for you. Though it is a bit annoying that some people have to pay like 20 USD to call Nintendo of America...
