Yeah. I keep my own fork which doesn't have screen init but has all the recent changes (auto-shutdown if no SD, etc.) but I'm not sure if people would be interested, and if it working on my two consoles makes it safe to use (I'd rather not brick people's 3DSes)
Can you please share that?

Also, wouldn't it be possible to do that by installing A9LH with the auto-shutdown and separately installing stage2? Since iirc, that SD card thing isn't part of stage2, right?

Hi, I just switched my emuNAND and sysNAND, but when I create the updatedsysnand folder in rei, it doesn't toggle anything, still just boot on my emunand on 9.2.

Any idea ?

Does that even work? I was under the impression that if you wanted to launch GW, you had to do it from sysNAND as emuNAND already had patches and memory movement so GW would just crash.
noted with thanks. now I understand. means need to buy another 3ds :yaynds:

@Aurora Wright, would it be better to re-run the @dark_samus3 updater with my original stage0x5C000.bin that DOESNT have screen_init if I want to fully take advantage of your new update? Are there any real benfits to having screen_init now that AuReiNAND can load the payloads and how them without it?

@Aurora Wright : Do you know how much I love you?
That update is just the greatest thing for the 3DS. We know have a great CFW with a great built-in boot manager.

I really don't see what else could be added to the firmware in terms of features except now new features such as region-free or something ambitious like a built-in NTR-like menu... Otherwise, for the features before the boot and various options to boot... I don't think that we need anything else. Really a great piece of work. :grog:

i read lot of times that it is safe to update sysNAND, so lets say i am on 9.2 atm. you say it is safe to update to 10.7 sysNAND o.O ..

would my GW emuNAND still work? (but then again i dont need sysNAND as i only use emuNAND so.. i dont know what the benefit for me would be updating my sysNAND).

Did you install TWL_FIRM patches?
I have the correct patches installed, dsiware of the correct region works but dsiware I have made region free using the guide on here don't. I haven't tried the 3.9 update yet but hopefully @Aurora Wright was able to fix the problem. Region free cia's work so I would've thought region free dsiware should too

No, GW emunand would not work anymore.
You need to be on 9.0-9.2 to use it, even with the UpdatedSysnand mode.

To answer properly, first of all, I don't really see the point of using Gateway and Arm9LoaderHax (yes, really, it is nearly the same as the Mset exploit, instead of using System Settings you may use Homebrew Launcher but basically, same thing).
Then, now we can restore sysnand as we want, even if we mess with it, we can just boot Decrypt9 and restore a backup. Using sysnand is as safe as using emunand. And now, using AuReiNand (but also with CakesFW), you can update sysnand and use the system "normally". The main point of using sysnand is that you don't have to install GBA games two times for example or you don't have to come back to sysnand after leaving a GBA game otherwise it won't save...

It's just way more convenient because the system act as it should act, the only difference is sig check patches.

But if you want to stick with emunand, just don't update sysnand, there is no point to do it.

ok, i thought i was on CFW sysnand using a9HL aureinand 10.7
so i installed some modded GBA VC games as .cia
non of them worked
so i guess i am on emunand since those games should installed on sysnand to work?
i used BBM to install them

I believe at this point, you still need at keep 9.2 around in some point to be able to use an entry point (such as menuhax) to boot into Gateway. And of course, Gateway boots into EmuNAND by default, so swapping the NANDs would make it a little annoying.

It's the main reason I've not swapped the NANDs on my N3DS.

anyone can use gateway after aureinand a9lh?
I'm using n3ds sysnand 10.7 aureinand a9lh & emunand 9.2
I tried boot from 9.0 firm - browserhax - hbl - select GW from there cant load anything
test on sysnand 10.7 - open hbllauncher cia - select GW from there also cant load
please help. thanks
You should do the way around!
First time I did it I set up A9LH with my emuNAND 10.6 in sysNAND and turned on updatednand flag so A9LH would boot directly to my sysNAND (which is, in fact, my emuNAND), then I put my sysNAND 9.2 in emuNAND so when I booted holding L, that would execute it. This combo does not work with Gateway since you cannot boot it from emuNAND.

So I did my A9LH setup again but this time I chose my sysNAND 9.2 to be on sysNAND and kept a emuNAND 10.6 in my micro SD. Removed the flag and AuReiNand now boots to my emuNAND when I power the console on. If I hold L this boots my sysNAND 9.2 (using firmware90.bin) and I can launch Homebrew Launcher and, from there, chose GW.3dsx, which now loads Gateway perfectly!

EDIT:
Does that even work? I was under the impression that if you wanted to launch GW, you had to do it from sysNAND as emuNAND already had patches and memory movement so GW would just crash.
Just as you mentioned :)

how you managed to do that ?
i followed the OTP guide and i am booting to CFW syNAND directly
can you share your configuration with me?
