Custom text in Home Menu? Does that mean I can translate it?
Probably, but it'd have to be the same total length, I think, kind of like those old ROM hacks that can't have longer text without assembly hacks.

NIM can also be patched to block eshop update checks and update nag downloads (use with NS patch):

Using these patches on O3DS allows you to downgrade spider to more vulnerable versions (<9.5) without triggering update nag in eShop/home menu, which means you get the best of both worlds - you can use leaftools/pkhex/whatever while retaining eShop access at the same time, you still need the latest NVer installed for NNID signins though.
Regionfree. Would this allow regionspecific banners to display?
Oh, eh. Haha. These releases and discoveries are eating away at NTR's use. Custom updates eliminate the need for the clocking, this removes regionfree. Now it's better suited towards debugging. It depends. If it's a multi-language game like Pokémon, it'll show the banner that matches your console, if it has one. If it's a Japanese-only game like the one ihaveamac demonstrated in his video on the first post, then it'll show that one instead.

Good point. I completely forgot about those two. Although language plugins could be solved in a CFW update, where launching a game checks for a file on your SD and temporarily "patches" your menu accordingly. All we're really missing is the plugin and layeredFS systems. Once we have those, CFWs will more or less be utopias on the 3DS.
Now if only there wasn't this issue of downloading DLC for out-of-region games from the eshop.
Am I the only one that's hoping the 3DS could eventually do what the PSP can today? I would like to see button remapping (binding touch input to ZL/ZR or mirror circle pad controls to C-stick or CPP if you're left handed) and background music playback on the 3DSAll we're really missing is the plugin and layeredFS systems. Basically my thoughts as I read the comment.Am I the only one that's hoping the 3DS could eventually do what the PSP can today? I would like to see button remapping and background music playback on the 3DS
Currently isn't possible, cakes patches are arm9 only and this is arm11Can someone make a CakesFW ".Cake" patch that does this on startup?
Is the NCCH encryption at the end console-specific or can I use the encrypted end-product on any 3DS?
it's not console-specific, it's just needed for NAND titles to workIs the NCCH encryption at the end console-specific or can I use the encrypted end-product on any 3DS?
