I know it probably is is irrelevant but, is there some difference between the red and blue button ion the Sky3ds? i want to buy one but i don't know...

Also, if i already had the homebrew stuff in my sd (i used themehax but i messed it up so now i can't access) can i still use it with cubic ninja, just scaning the thing, or do i have to install (or reinstall) something else?

The old sky3ds (red button i guess) can hold up to 10 games, the blue one is 31 games per micro sd if im not mistaken.
The homebrew stuff you could use it with CN, but i think you will have to reinstall homemenuhax.

I've been out of the "scene" for a while and wanted to make sure about somethings before I do anything, my Old3DS is on 8.1.0.-19e Sysnand and 9.4.0-21e on Emunand and my gateway still boots up fine with the web stuff, what's needed to catch up as it were and be A-ok on the latest games? I see a lot of stuff about rxtools and such that I think was not around or at least was in the early days, no idea what those are but are those needed?

RxTools doesn't work on New 3DS.. save yourself the effort in this case.
I'm not really sure what to call it.. or what it does.

You can download the latest gateway launcher.dat and update your emunand to 10.3

Other than their new cheat engine there isn't much about Gateway that you don't know by now.

rxTools is a CFW that allows cia installation, emunand use, nand dumping and all those things without spending a dime in a Gateway card, it also allows for GBA and DSiware games to be played (Gateway never had support for that).

RxTools doesn't work on New 3DS.. save yourself the effort in this case.
I'm not really sure what to call it.. or what it does.

First of all he has an OLD 3DS maybe you need to open your eyes wider and read properly

Second rxTools DOES work in New 3DS, don't know where you are getting that from.

Third you don't even know what to call it or what it does, so I suggest you to shut up and stop spreading missinformation in topics you are clueless about...

Oh great, Was expecting all sorts of things needed these days, but I guess that's up and coming if those rumours of Ninty going ham against piracy in the coming months is true..

Hello, I'm currently in 10.1.0-27E firmware and I want to update to latest firmware without losing homebrew support (I use ironhax). Is it posible by now?
also, wich is the latest firmware for Eur 3ds?
I have a New3DS XL if that matters.

Thanks.

Hey there. I've been out of the loop for quite a while. This is my situation:
3DS XL Ver. 10.1.0-27U, Ironhax installed (and Youhax, if that's still a thing)

I haven't done anything since they released Ironhax.
I was eyeing Pokemon Neo X and I was wondering if I can do something in order to play it, having a Pokemon X cart. If not, still, what do I have to do in order to be up to date with my 3DS in terms of homebrew?

Thanks a lot.

Since you haven't touched anything since you installed it I'm %100 sure you are using 2.1 and not 2.5

The answer is yes, you can play Pokemon Neo X using Hans. But you have to update the payload first!!!

How do you do that you might ask? Download the starter kit from smea's website again, replace the boot.3dsx and replace all the homebrew apps you already have with the ones inside the starter pack after that open the Homebrew Launcher as you normally do and reinstall Ironhax (Make sure you have an internet connection and choose the right version) you'll be in 2.5 version after that.

Since you are in 10.1 I suggest you to install Menuhax 2.0 too, it is already inside the starter pack and just install it from there.

Now you can install a romhack of Pokemon Neo X and play it with Hans.

The latest firmware is 10.3 and yes you can update and still use Ironhax but you have to update the payload first!

Do all the steps I mentioned above but when reinstalling Ironhax make sure that you choose 10.3 instead of 10.1, then you can update your console to 10.3 and Ironhax should work as normal.

OK, I downloaded the starter kit and replaced everything I had. I'm trying to launch Ironhax by selecting the Ironhax save file. It tries to load the homebrew launcher but it stops at "The homemenu ropbin is ready" and reverts me to the Home Menu with the message "An error has ocurred. Please save your data and restart the system".

What should I do?

Thanks for your time, by the way.

Did you have the chance to reinstall Ironhax? Or it freezes as soon as you replaced the files and tried to launch Ironhax?

If it's the later you can easily fix that by going back to the 2.1 boot.3dsx, launch Ironhax as you were doing before and install Menuhax 2.0 from there, then go to the 2.5 boot.3dsx file.

And reinstall Ironhax with the 2.5 payload from Menuhax 2.0 (which will have the 2.5 installed on).

I replaced the contents of my SD with the new Starter Kit, but now I can't launch Ironhax. I open Ironfall, select my Ironhax file and it goes to load the Homebrew launcher, but it says something about target real quick, then another line I can't read because it disappears too fast, and then the "The homemenu ropbin is ready" and reverts me to the 3DS Home Menu.

Hey guys, just went through the Gateway setup process on a 9.0 n3ds, and while I can boot into gateway mode just fine (and run 3ds backups), gateway mode is the only gateway GUI option that's available. The rest are greyed out and I can't even scroll over to them. Any suggestions? I haven't seen anyone else have this problem!

Also, if cia files aren't being used (except for bluecardfix for nds backups) and wifi updates aren't an issue, is there really any incentive to unlink nands? The DS is only used by one person, and they know not to update anything.

Thanks guys!

(Almost forgot, being on 9.0, is there any reason to update emunand to anything higher? It's an N3DS so I realize that it can't be fully updated anyway, and that updating my emunand should only be done after unlinking the nands.)

Thanks again!

Have not kept up in the scene but, is it possible to load a linked emunand with theme hax yet?

This is something likely to never happen and it's because linked NAND's share the same folders pointing at the same files.

So whenever you load emunand it is trying to load the same hacked theme data as sysnand.

There will be no "fix" for it since is not something that it is actually broken or that should be worked on.

I'd like to ask this: what 3DS flash cart should I get? I'm wanting something that can emulate gba and (not needed, but it would be nice) NDS games, and also dump and run 3DS roms. I have Firmware 10.3.0-28U as what I THINK is called sysnand or however is it spelled? (I'm no good with the technical stuff. And no I have not hacked my 3DS to get the fake system version) I also want to be able to mod 3DS roms, though that would require the flash cart to fake a system version to run such on my 3DS, right? And it being at the least likely to brick my 3DS, as I bought my 3DS with gift money I was given from my mother. In other words, a great all-around 3DS flash cart. I know it's plenty to ask of, but I dunno which of those features I want more than the others. Please answer soon. Thanks in advance.

The only 3DS flashcart available to you is the Sky3DS (and its clones). The Sky3DS can only run retail ROMs (so no ROM hacks directly). However, one of the things it can do is run a game called Cubic Ninja, which is currently the best entrypoint for homebrew. And one of the things homebrew can do is run ROM hacks, although to what extent and whether or not you can do ROM hacks with Sky3DS is something that I do not know. I also believe that there is a GBA emulator for 3DS homebrew.

The other major type of 3DS flashcarts (namely the Gateway) require the system to be on 9.2 or lower to take advantage of exploits that were patched with later updates.

For NDS games, just get a separate flashcard for the original DS. I believe the major ones still work.
