BIG PROBLEM

My computer keeps asking me to reformat my SD card before using it... I cant do/put anything on it anymore ! What the heck... I was using the ''quick format'' option, is that the cause ?

It seems to me that your SD card got corrupted and you ended up transferring a corrupted backup somehow...

As I understand windows can't see the emunand partition in the SD card, and it can't delete it neither by formatting the SD.

So if I not mistaken with info above and if you backed up all the contents from your SD beforehand, you could format the SD card and still be able to extract it's emunand afterwards.

Edit:

The old card or the new one?

If it's the new one, you should check if it's not a fake card, and if not it could also be defective.

Try running one of those programs that check these things.

The old one is still functional, though I screwed up by injecting its own emunand back into it (rxtools not working anymore, but SD card is still working). For the 2nd one I think the primary partition is busted or something, I just cleaned it using the diskpart function in cmd but I cant create a new primary partition (dont know how, im on windows 10). Now when I put the SD card in and try to click on it it just disppears from ''my computer'', probably because there is no primary partition. Trying to get it to work right now.

Sorry for complicating things this was stupid on my part

Sorry for the double post but good news... The SD card is safe, the problem was the SD drive on my laptop, so now Im using a SD to USB adapter plugged to a usb drive and its working. However I am not gonna do the emunand tool thing, I busted the emunand on the old one by re-injecting on itself, so Im just redoing the entire CFW setup on a new SD card.

Ok, seems like you've done everything correctly, so I'm not 100% sure why it's failing to boot rxTools. I know the boot success rate isn't perfect (I've had it fail around 10 times in a row before), so you may have to try it a few times to see if it will eventually boot. If it absolutely refuses to boot, you can grab a downgrade pack from Gateway's website and use the Gateway launcher to downgrade to 4.X. After that, I would retry and see if it works.

Good news Bob, Firmware downgrade from gateway, used in conjunction with the gateway launcher worked a treat.
Was able to launch rxtools via browser, no problem and installed what I needed.
Great advice, thanks again for all your help.

Ok so you have two options.

You can wait for your friend to get you his copy of OoT and hopefully it either already has the GW save on it or you have a way to import the gw save file.

Or you can follow the first few parts of this guide to get to a point where you can boot the GW menu.

You will need to follow sections I and II, and I personally recommend using Method 2 in section I since it is much easier. Once you finish section II, you will have a nand.bin back up and an emunand partition on the sd card and you can continue from page 44 with step 8 "Unlink sysNAND and emuNAND". Keep in mind that since you have a N3DS you cannot easily eject your sd card so I highly suggest you do not put the sd card back in until after the format completes (you would have removed it during Section II of te guide I linked so you could restore your content after setting up the emunand partition.

I've done that part, but now, I'm stuck on instalation of CIA Installer.

When I try install it, I receive the "SUMMARY_WRONG_ARGUMENT (0x8).

If I try install by injecting over the Health & Safety, the rxTools cant see the TMD version and later, it says Missing Health & Safety Info

Quick question: if I've an EU 3DS, and I've a US version of the game in a .3ds format, can I install US update .cia file without any problems and it'll work properly?

What are you using to try and install and what installer are you trying to install?

Also, I don't think you can install over the Health & Safety app on the N3DS

I have two versions of FBI.CIA. One of them was made using a converter and xorpads and bla bla bla... It worked fine when I used it on the tutorial that you send to me...

The second one was the one I download from the rxtools tutorial.

What I've done:

I started the N3DS and went to emuNAND directly;
I entered HBL using browsehax;
Then I started FBI from HBL to install FBI.CIA

Ok so from what I was reading, you may not be able to use the homebrew version of FBI on emunand if you have already updated it past 9.2 since it apparently uses the kernel exploit to install (i think? not entirely sure I read it correctly)

Then it sounds to me like you aren't actually booting into emunand. At the very least signature checks are not being patched.

I'm sure I'm booting emuNAND... I dont know how to confirm about signature checks being patched...

If you are using rxTools then signature checks are patched and it shouldn't matter if it is emunand or sysnand. The problem is confirming that signature checks are patched.

Until you manage to get a cia installer on your emunand I would strongly suggest you not use any autobooting things ctrbootmanager. You should manually launch your CFW so you can be sure that it IS launching and that you arent just bypassing it back into sysnand by accident.

When I followed the tutorial, I used Ninjhax to access HBL. There's any way to do that again but using emuNAND?

Hi.
I'm using NTR for few days now, using region emulation and back up save plugins.

I've just heard about Hans which allows to launch retail games with additional featured. Is this a better tool than NTR ?

I'm on 9.2 N3DS with 9.2 emunand. Is there any way for me to get 9.5 emunand? I remember I spoke with someone and they mentioned you could do this via cia install somehow. I have CN and GW.

You can update via finding the update CIAs on that "iso" site.

If you have GW and you only want to update emunand, you can use a rom that has 9.5 on it, but it will not update any of the network apps (system transfer, browser, eshop, etc). You can check 3dbrew for a list of waht doesn't get updated iirc. If you absolutely HAVE to have those apps updated then yes, your only option is to install sysupdater to your emunand then download an update pack from that iso site. extract all of the cia files to a folder named "updates" on the root of your sd card. boot into gw emunand and then run sysupdater.

It is VERY important that you use sysupdater and not another cia installer like BBM, FBI, or DevMenu. Those three do not always install a cia file if the title already exists, where as sysupdater installs ALL files in the updates folder, regardless of whether the title already exists. If you do use one of the normal cia installers you are highly likely to end up with a Frankenstein firmware installation and such an install has been known to cause problems down the line.
