Hacking GBATempers' sarcastic name-twist spotted on AliExpress!

Forgive me if this has already been reported; I looked and didn't see it here.

I was looking for a cheap, china-based seller of flash carts, to get a sky3ds or clone for my kid's 2DS, as he somehow has the uncanny ability to break sturdy retail carts (or, rather, save games disappear, etc). and I spotted this Gateway-3DS listing with a little gbatemp twist!

it made me laugh out loud, and i just wanted to share it.. I personally love gateway, as it's the only solution that feeds my need to tinker with things, so I am not promoting the "gatewait" nomenclature at all, just the appearance of the term in a retail setting.

[edit] damn.. i didn't realize the native resolution of my 15" retina screen would make the image so freaking huge (because of the way OS X scales things to appear similar to a normal-res screen, 1680x1050 in my case, i forgot that the actual pixels are 2880x1800) sorry! [/edit]

Related: Did you ever find an inexpensive Sky3DS card? I've been looking for one as well but most of the listings on Aliexpress for flash carts avoid using brand names in the listing title.

I know what you mean Monty, you must be wary- but I went ahead when I was shopping and took the risk and got EMS shipping to boot, it got to my apartment in 2 days and I have been using it ever since. my review went up as K***** J

I bought my blue button card for $75(normally 90-95?) when it was on sale. Don't know if it still is at this moment, just check each supplier.

How do you know it is a fake? Would it not accept more than 10 games? did you make a dispute about them sending a fake on aliexpress? Did they resolve it?

Hi if you look at the forum you could see many of my post and response is always the same it's a fake
If I put more than 7 games all other games are auto-cycling i have to press blue button 10 sec on the game I want to play it and saves are corrupt...
I open a dispute yesterday so i wait response from aliexpress... Seller says he only sells official card... He says to me no fake exist...
So I wait aliexpress dispute case

I only ask because I ordered from the same seller because it was the cheapest price, and they had good reviews. I didn't see any claims that said the cards were fake (at least no english reviews saying it is fake which were the only ones I could read). I'm curious to know how the dispute turns out.

As a whole, I've had very good results buying direct from china. Unfortunately, as with any group of people, there are bad apples.. what you describe here is THE MOST COMMON scam that those bad apples love to perpetrate/perpetuate (lol.. either one would fit).

This has happened to me a several times on amazon, when buying from a china seller, not ships/sold by amazon.com. Order chargers (5 of them) CLEARLY listed as 12watt 2.4Amp iPad chargers. receive 5 knockoff iPHONE chargers (1Amp). enquire politely as to why I've been sent the wrong item. Seller "apologizes" and says to please send them back via registered blah blah blah airmail, send us tracking information, and we will send the right item. Of course shipping charges using their required method would cost more than the value of the item, and they know this. It's a clever and unfair way to offload old stock onto american consumers lol.

I actually did send back a microUSB to lightning adapter (when lightning was very new, and these devices weren't very cheap) because i was sent a 30-pin iphone/ipod/ipad to lightning adapter. they sent ... get this: TWO 30-PIN to LIGHTNING ADAPTERS! along with a note saying: "here is your microUSB to lightning adapter. we are including a bonus microUSB to lightning adapter as a free gift" *facepalm* upon pointing out the mistake *cough* scam *cough cough*, I was told to... you guessed it, send them back via registered airmail. EMS equivalent etc. etc..

needless to say, i have two unused 30-pin to lightning adapters sitting in a box somewhere.

and wat is it? just the insides of the red card? no blue card I assume
can't you get he whole thing almost the same price now?

Sky3DS is now gov banned,and any shop found selling it will be closed at once.Nintendo of America has contacted Mainland China gov.We Chinese now refer to it as "Sky Card"(sky卡).Apart from AliExpress,Taobao second-hand goods platform,Xianyu(闲鱼)("Idlefish",spells like "Salted Fish")is a place to find real bargain,but IDK how the goods are shipped to the USA.

They cant sell Flashcards in Aliexpress i think, so they have to lie and "sell" the PCB but you get the original Gateway pack.
