HAHA I just thought...it would be funny if they started answering questions about release date with "February 29th." Such trolling!

Not claiming this to be "news", just forwarding a response I got from them two days ago. Not sure if they meant that DSiWare/GBA will work in 2.0 as well or if they were just answering my question regarding the deadline. As long as it really does come within the next 17 days, I'll be busy enough 'til then with my current 450 ROM collection.

I haven't ever even seen a dump of any DSiWare/eShop/Ambassador GBA games, anywhere. How could Gateway actually implement eShop titles, when they aren't even dumped?

I definitely want online support, though. If Gateway just manages multi-ROM support, NAND-based saves and to get online play working, I will be completely satisfied.

and get rid of the brick code and think of a better way than bricking someones 3ds for no fault of theirs just the flashcard maker. i mean the customer that bought the card didnt know that they were stealing work from gateway. basically if say a clone company copies gateways work and the customer loads the launcher.dat file a message pops up saying that the launcher.dat file that you are trying to use was a gateway file modified and the user cant use the card. no harm to the customer but now the customer knows that the clone company isnt doing their own work.

If you're having 3DS problems. I feel bad for you, son. I got 99 problems, but a brick ain't one.

Sorry. Had to.

I know how much it has to suck to be sitting on a brick right now. Not trying to make light of that. I am not completely sure I believe that Gateway intentionally tried to brick anyone's console. Once it is possible to easily unbrick 3DS systems, or if there is ever a recovery mode like on the PSP or Wii, I am confident that ALL of the truth about the matter will come to light at that point.

I was referring to how DSiWare and GBA games don't function in EmuNAND, not the ability to pirate digital content.

No, not you. I just realized that that quote might have come off as a bit heartless. Just saying it in general for the dozen people who DID get bricked.

Out of hundreds and hundreds.

The denial is strong with this one.

I have tried as hard as I can to intentionally brick my system, and it refuses to. I think I have something like 69,000 total steps, just from the past week when I decided I would get a bunch of Play Coins all at once. Each time, I had to reboot the system entirely and boot back into Gateway Mode.

This is the second time I have done this. With two different SD cards, of different classes. The first time, I probably rebooted well over 150 times, in between changing the date for Play Coins, and testing new ROMs. Since having to start all over again, I have probably rebooted at least 90.

I have done everything shy of actually tinkering with the launcher.dat file, which would be retarded, to see if my 3DS would brick under normal usage, and I have experienced zero issues.

Hundreds of other people can say the same, and have said the same. You just want to justify the fact that you got suckered into the hype like the rest of them.

The code that is in the Gateway launcher - written by Gateway - is highly specific and does not serve any legitimate purpose. It's only reason for inclusion is to brick the users of clone cards. That is undeniable on the actual evidence. The reason for the sporadic nature of the bricking is that Gateway designed the code so that it only happens quite rarely, even on the clones. This was to disguise their involvement and to cast all the blame on the 'faulty' hardware / software of the 'evil Chinese Mafia'.

Unfortunately (for Gateway) Normatt came out with his region free launcher and it became absolutely clear that the bricking was due to concealed code in the original Gateway launcher and not due to the poor quality of the rival cards.

I must again clarify that the specific manner in which the bricking takes place cannot be accidental as it takes a very specific set of targeted instructions to make it happen and those actions serve no genuine, benign purpose in order to allow the Gateway to perform flashcart related functions.

Even Gateway themselves have not denied this code is in their launcher. It would be so easy for them to do this. The reason they have not is because they did place the code themselves. Why are you still denying the existence of this code despite the evidence?

The bricking code that costs one Raspberry Pi, some cheap hardware, soldering (or substitute solderer), and a NAND dump.
All for one brick and any more bricks that surface.
Then again, I'm well off with money. 50 bucks isn't too much to fix with.

we are not denying that... it just... if you use the product the right way, you shouldn't have any problem with it.

Microsoft did the same, if you keep using an not valid copy of window 8 for too long, your installation someday (30 days I think) will stop booting. Oh jeezzzz people are not complaining about it... you know why? because it's illegal in the first place....
Gateway 3ds is an illegal product and together with their own copy protection is creating a fun paradox but hey! everybody can protect their work the way they want.

Well they sound 100% sure of that, so that's a time frame I'm gonna hold 'em to. I'd prefer this week, but this month is fine.

Just another of many reasons why Windows 8 sucks. I'm sure there are plenty of workarounds, though, and that doesn't actually brick your PC, so it's quite a bit different.

1.2.3.4 I predict a flame war.
Clones should have tested their copies before selling dangerous shit to customers. If Normatt knew before his region free hack, funk him for releasing one based on GW software knowing it'd brick people.
